I disagree on the Southampton thing (although I wouldn't argue he or anyone else played well), also there seems to be some narrative about his attitude/effort which is based on no tangible evidence I've seen

To be fair you only have to look at him last season, he was all over the gaff, chasing balls down, up and down the pitch, fired up. This season we haven't seen that, he just hasn't put anywhere near the effort in of last season. Now it's just my opinion but when I'm at the game at times he just doesn't look arsed. Maybe he had his head turned by all the Chelsea interest and spat his dummy out when we didn't want to now. Again IMO, he needs to stop thinking he's better than he actually is then he may get back to that hungry player with potential from last season.

It’s good we talk openly about the impact of Everton fans on their own players and particularly young scouse players. There seems to be something amiss there.
I feel it’s the same for every clubs local lads who play for their clubs. Feel the big difference is the likes of Chelsea, city, Liverpool, united have a lot better players and they dominate the ball so it’s much easier for there young players to grow.

Got the adulation of the fans last year as he bust a gut helping the defence as much as he aided attack. Then he got a flash of Chelsea’s knickers and strolled around the pitch with a titty lip when he didn’t get his move.

Neither his output nor his character will be missed.
This seems a narrative spun by one eyed fans to deflect criticism of their own failings.

Seem to remember him starting the season well so couldn’t have been that turned? Perhaps he just hit some bad form, same as his team mates, but Evertonians being entitled hysteria biffs get dead para and spin it into something else, thus damaging the player and hounding him out.

A theorem.

I'm not trying at all to be insulting here mate, but I'm absolutely amazed at the number of people who think that they can determine his attitude from his body language. Personally I've seen no difference. He's certainly not been as good, but is there any possibility that's because last season we played a system where we sat deep a lot and looked to play on the break, allowing him to use his pace? This season we've played in front of teams and been awful. Granted, he's had a couple of really poor games and you don't need to be a UEFA qualified coach to see that but last season he was criticised for lacking stamina, possibly because of the fact that he was charging around like a headless chicken at times. Is it not beyond the realms of possibility that Lampard and co had been trying to get him to manage his efforts more intelligently?

Again, to reiterate the point, he's been a 1st team regular for a year. He's 21. The number of people falling over themselves to say "good riddance" etc is bewildering to me.

Good example mate. Just one mile across the park they seem to really get behind their young players and lift them - as developing human beings - into feeling confident to perform. So some have said.

If he had shown the same effort that he did last season then fans would be more inclined to accept a temporary loss of form. Every player goes through a bad patch but if they still get stuck in and run themselves into the ground then I think Goodison is a forgiving ground. Goodison however will not tolerate someone giving less than 100% and that has certainly been the case with young Anto.

His heart just isn’t in it anymore.

Do you think if we was challenging for trophies year on on year, playing in Europe we would give our local lads more time and less pressure?

I saw him play far far better last season with far more energy and fight, so I know he's capable of performing better. The question is why it hasn't happenned this year - there could be many factors - some down to him, but probably some absolutely not down to the player either

As I say mate it was just my opinion and not saying that mean's I'm right, and I totally respect your take on it.

See I just can’t have this mate. A young player has struggled in a team that’s now bottom of the league but it’s because of supposed arrogance? How many times we gonna do this? How many times we gonna compromise young assets of Everton before we push back on these repetitive crazy notions we allow our most angry and paranoid to spin?
