Why are you believing some jarg twitter accounts as though they're gospel?

We don't know what the number is, we don't know the structure of the deal, we don't even know if there's a deal on the table!

I get you have an axe to grind with the board - but let's try be smart.

Luke Edwards isn’t just a “jarg Twitter account”, he’s basically Newcastle’s Paul Joyce.

There’s been plenty of players with talent but not the application to unlock it. I couldn’t care less if Gordon goes elsewhere and then catches fire, what is clear is that this season he hasn’t applied himself at all for us and so his talent is largely irrelevant. He won’t perform for us now so I’d rather get rid and the buying club can take the gamble if he’ll perform for them long term.

Oh I agree with all of that mate. I am selling all day at the figures mentioned.

It's just a broader point, that people would have to accept Ashworth is clearly very knowledgeable.

For what it's worth, I think Gordon could unlock potential, but not sure it will work at Newcastle.

It may well be the case mate, but it's hard to argue he isnt a good judge of talent when you look at his record at Brighton and England.
Gordon is at the very least an OK squad player. They're taking a chance on him improving and being significantly more than that, because they can afford to do so. It's exactly what all the top clubs do, sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it wrong. Time will tell how it goes with Gordon, him being wanted by Newcastle isn't proof of him being a world beater just like him having less Premier League assists in the last 12 months than Dango Outtara (who is younger than him and has been in the country for 6 days) isn't proof that he's rubbish.

Mad that he was the only one that called their takeover every step of the way.
They may remember him from a certain saga etc.

Also look at the bobble. Load of Everton fans say he chats wham but loads say he’s great.

Romano who all the tipsters love gets stuff wrong.

I believe it just because we know it’s happened in the summer. For some reason, someone in Everton thinks other teams are stupid enough to pay 60 mill.

Just imagine if we price Newcastle out and they walk away and we’re stuck with no new signings and Gordon with a mard arse on for the rest of the season and potentially beyond.
he’s already stopped playing after the chelsea drama he’d stop turning up for training if it happened again lads a joke

I go along with all of that.

He hasnt really kicked on at all this season. I think there are a few reasons for that, some of that undoubtedly the player himself, and also in no small part the manager.

As I stated in the summer, for the prices mentioned (top line 40-50m) I am a seller. In general I am happy to take the hedge against potential, and specifically in our case that is doubly so (as players dont seem to kick on as much). With the exception of Rooney, we have probably got the best of most such hedges, and I'm happy to continue that.

Ashworth is a bright man and a good judge of talent. He may see things we dont, or sees how he can work in a system. I'm not convinced hes shown he can be clinical enough in the final third, but maybe with coaching it can come.

There are 3 broad generalisations I've made there, and they can all be true simultaneously. I'm sure people will want to die on different hills, but for me, all of it can be true at the same time.

This seems a narrative spun by one eyed fans to deflect criticism of their own failings.

Seem to remember him starting the season well so couldn’t have been that turned? Perhaps he just hit some bad form, same as his team mates, but Evertonians being entitled hysteria biffs get dead para and spin it into something else, thus damaging the player and hounding him out.

A theorem.

If he had shown the same effort that he did last season then fans would be more inclined to accept a temporary loss of form. Every player goes through a bad patch but if they still get stuck in and run themselves into the ground then I think Goodison is a forgiving ground. Goodison however will not tolerate someone giving less than 100% and that has certainly been the case with young Anto.

His heart just isn’t in it anymore.

Could be both, he hit very bad form which is normal for young players, then during the run of poor form he hears the stick from fans and decides I can’t be arsed with this anymore

The problem in general is fans deciding that whatever negative narrative they’ve assumed is correct for young/new players justifies the utter lack of patience with them.

I don’t think it’s just an Everton problem, I would say majority of footy fans act like this
