I think it's really unfair that we judge players based on their fashion and car choices.
there are plenty of really super hard working talented players who ALSO spend tonnes of money on cars and questionable fashion choices.
the more serious issue is that we are irritated when local players don't literally bleed for us, and don't become world superstars, with a background from somewhere near GOodison. We're still scarred by Barkley and Rooney, and the closest we have had to local successes have been Baines, Osman and Coleman who turned blue.
The more serious thing to criticise him on is that he's hyped and apparently a young superstar, but players of his age are at least scoring and Assisting around 10 'contributions' per season, and having a bit more influence, at least from the bench or something. If Foden in England and Mbappe in the world are the benchmarks, then £40m is an amazing return for someone like Gordon. I wish, like the Red Bull group and Dortmund, we could get 2-3 seasons out of our young players before moving them on, but we don't seem to have the skill to develop a system.

Brilliant post.

It's just a series of fat depressed meffs moaning about a young lad with wacky hair and a distinct fashion sense. The jealousy of the young millionaire is tragic.

This is a joke we are in a relegation battle and we are selling a player worth 50M? If he's worth that much then surely a competent manager like Dyche can get something from him, what the hell is going on at this club?

Mate never a £50m player even at his best, in fact not even a £30m player.

If he was he would have contributed far more and went to a City or Utd rather then a small club like Newcastle

I judge him based on his footballing ability and have never once mentioned his hair and clothes. Oh look he’s still crap.

Good luck spending your blood money, just know you’ll never be a club as illustrious as Everton, despite how much the media want to blow smoke up your arse.
Lol we're hardly an illustrious club, think we've misses the boat on the globalisation of the game. Don't think many outside of Merseyside see us as a big club. The players sure don't.

Newcastle swoop in and simply take our prized asset. Its what bigger clubs do we need to accept it.

Newcastle are a small club really, with lots of cash. Like if Notts County, or Huddersfield got a pay load.
They've made a very big offer, for a lad who wasn't getting in to our team. It's not really what successful clubs do, but Newcastle have never been a successful club really.

He is not worth anything close to that and for once we are doing the right thing. To big for his boots after half a dozen decent games and if the money freed up is spent wisely we are back in the mix ..

I think he will do reasonably well, at first, but I dont think we will regret letting him go, long term.

Its all about what we do with the money.

The Gordon we had has scored 7 goals in 50 odd games, thats the benchmark.

It's sort of irrelevant as well how he does. The money for us now, both in probably ensuring we remain within the limits of FFP (hence the 40m in 1 block) but also the opportunity to spend some cash now is important to us.
We have been adaquately compensated for the risk profile he has now. If he goes on and becomes a 100m+ player, we will recieve another 10m in sell on, so will have been paid 55m in total. Im happy to take that bet at this point.
