He's been bang average for Newcastle too but the Skunks want to make a rivalry where every time he kicks a ball forward they'll want to justify the price tag.

Fully agree. Always falling down and then wasting the ball.
He hasn't really become a better player at Newcastle. He just has more room to run with the ball than he did with us and that is making him seem better. His end product really isn't any different and the goal he got first half was a trifle lucky as it went through the keepers legs. It has also helped that TAA is having an awful game. Should have got red early in the game and then caused VVD to get removed.

He wanted out, he downed tools, and his performances regressed massively as a result. He's a good player, but we had no option but to sell because he wasn't performing for us.

He's a good player. And we were entirely right to sell. Both can be true, and both are true.

Our mistake was not selling him last summer when he first wanted out, so we could have properly reinvested in a forward.

McNeil is just as good as Gordon if not better, is one year older and was half the price of what we sold Gordon for. He scored a goal gifted on a plate to him, chill out.

Chelsea were in for him a year ago, we should have sold him then. His performances after we didn't sell him were significantly worse than the season before. I had seen him play far better the year before so I knew he wasn't playing at the same level. His last couple of appearances following the world cup he was awful.

To be honest I think the patience argument is irrelevant. The player wanted out, and we needed the money. We had no option but to sell.

The idea everything is always the fans fault is one of the weirdest angles I've ever seen.

There were fitness and stamina issues but he already looks faster at Newcastle. I guarantee they’ve been working on that instead of whatever we were meant to be doing at the time.

We got a very good fee for Gordon. He hardly scored or assisted for us. He’s hardly done the same for Newcastle as well. Goal today due to a Trent mistake, but a good finish nevertheless. Will he improve.. more than likely.

But for us, time to move on. We have much bigger issues than Anthony Gordon finally playing well.

tbf Royston Drenthe won that same award, he’s a decent player but unless the market goes really crazy i’m happy with getting £45m for him - he’ll get what 5-10 goals a season maybe? towards the lower end of that scale if he was still with us

He did though. It's documented. Accumulated in him and Lampard having a falling out before West Ham, when the club needed him, and he left at earliest opportunity in January.

He wanted to go to Chelsea. Kenwright didn't want to sell Richy and Gordon in the same window. Gordon sulked. Wasn't arsed about Everton from their on.

The whole "we chased him out" narrative is now pushed by the Geordie horse punchers who now weirdly feel superior than us.

I never saw a lazy player. Thought the fee was decent for a player that was only going to lose value the longer he stayed but dunno why he has this ‘rat’ rep.
