Anthony Gordon

It’s not about forcing out, it’s about making him (and Barkley) not enjoy playing for their club. Osman was another, jags even. Recently Gomes, Keane, Onana, Pickford, etc, scared to get ghetto bell in case of error. It literally helps the opponents

Because we put our hopes on them and if they can't hack it mentally, then they won't ever reach a level we'd want to in my view.

Barkley got his Chelsea move. They gave him dogs abuse.

You've mentioned players like Keane (not premiership level) and Gomes (always had mentality issues) compared with Pickford - mentally at the top of his game. Played in big international semi and finals and delivered

I really doubt Phil Jagielka did not enjoy playing for Everton. Dont think there's evidence for these names not enjoying playing here.

Obviously no one enjoys losing. And we lose too much.

The fans get annoyed when the team loses and plays poorly. If players don't feel that the frustration is merited then they don't have the right mentality for elite football. Maybe there is a disconnect there but I dont want to be part of a fanbase which is content after home losses to Fulham and Wolves.

Everton fans have loved some very average footballers over the years. They just need to consistently meet the minimum standards which is maximum commitment

This is the issue, you’re basically saying the could be hood players if they didn’t get abuse! Why should they have to hack it mentally?
It’s literally helping the opposition

Mate, I have seen countless times individual players disappear after making an error and getting it from the fans. Jags ironically is one of the most clear examples in my mind

All fans give abuse, it’s the level and nature of abuse from us lot that really stands out

Phil Jagielka is a bizarre example. One of the most popular and respected Everton players of my lifetime.

The idea these players are being held back by the fans is daft in my opinion. Trying to blame supporters for us being rubbish at football is equally daft. I dont understand it and never have m.

Fine, abuse your own players and watch em shrink - good plan that
Where have I said we should abuse people

I'm stating a simple fact to counter your post. You played down the importance of mentality and I'm telling you mentality is what matters most in elite sport.

Even someone like Tiger Woods who had all the ability in the world, wouldn't have been the greatest sportsman of the last 25 years, if he didn't have a mentality to back up his talent.

Belief, determination, motivation, hard work, dealing with adversity, responding to setbacks, knowing how to build on success etc. These are things I'm talking about when I say mentality. Absolutely nothing to do with abuse nor do I want people taking abuse.

It's part of the game. The first things players getting out of the academy have to overcome is abuse from fans. Can't hack 20 having a go at you on a sunday, you're not going to make it when there's thousands.

Put it this way...The levels of abuse players get at the elite level clubs is more cut throat than anything we dish out.

I’m saying giving players abuse has a negative effect on their game. Helping the opposition

Even captain jags was a victim of it
