Play Barry / Besic at the back and blood the youngsters Browning and Galloway, at least that way Martinez will know whether to revise his plans in January after stating this week that he wouldn't be looking to recruit a centre half. If we are going to play Barry and Besic and the Back we should stick Howard upfront, Eto in goal and McCarthy on the wing.

Anyone who has dislocated a shoulder knows its not down to anything else but chance. I dislocated mine when my elbow lodged in a divot when doing a slide tackle. Its a freak injury. Nothing to do with being injury prone - just bad luck.

The way I look at it he is a free transfer and is on far lower wages than Heitinga was - he has provided cover when we needed it.

Three dislocated shoulders in the games this weekend (Alcaraz, Rojo and Van Aanholt) and Delph did his in training a couple of weeks ago. They are all freak accidents but it seems an unfortunately popular one at the moment.

Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz's shoulder injury is not as serious as feared and he will not need surgery.

The 32-year-old dislocated his shoulder in a 0-0 draw with Swansea and was expected to be out for up to 12 weeks, but could now return in five weeks.

Toffees manager Roberto Martinez said: "We decided not to go through surgery. It reduces the period Antolin is going to be out.

He is not as goosed as we thought he was (this time!), no need for shoulder surgery.
