This lad is technically an excellent footballer, and knows how to play creative football out of defence. If he gets an injury free season, he'll play more than some people think.

Snuck under the radar but the more exciting signing for me. I think he will make himself first choice soon enough

players that would help us surely.. though I'm not convinced we could sign them for a reasonable fee. We would have to pay over the odds which is something we cannot afford to do. Need to always be super savvy in the transfer market with our paltry budget.

Loads of Wigan fans and journos are convinced that if he hadn't been injured all the time then Wigan wouldn't have gone down. Not sure if they're deluded themselves but I think this is a good signing. Heitinga is surely off, Distin can't have long left and Jags needs solid partner. Alcarez is there to beef up our options, exactly what we need in our squad.
