I was making a point that in terms of judging a defender whether the team scored more goals then they let in (i.e did they lose more than two clear goals) is less useful a metric then how many goals they let in.
Say, hypothetically, wigan play two game one they lose 3-0 the other they win 19-18, by your definition the former is a drubbing and the latter isn't but the defending is likely to be worse on the one which you wouldn't count then the one you would.
The stats that are useful is the one you provided later.
"They conceded more than two only 9 times out of his 67 starts."
And I agree that makes him come over a lot better than i would have thought. As soon as you provided useful stats,I concede your point.
