Antolin Alcaraz

You do realise they didn't just sign him last year right?

He was part of plenty of drubbings in the two years previous.

You have just as much faulty logic in your argument as he does in his. Players sometimes go through years of not playing to standard and then suddenly they are back up to it. Look at Heits. Played well two seasons ago but was barf bag bad this season.

For a bottom 6 side he was involved in surprisingly few drubbings. These are the games that Alcaraz started where Wigan were beaten by more than 2 goals.

10/11:
Blackpool 4-0, Chelsea 6-0, Man Utd 4-0

11/12:
Man Utd 5-0, Sunderland 4-1

12/13:
Arsenal 4-1

Also remember that he was playing with the likes of Caldwell (both of them), Boyce, Gohouri, etc.

By all accounts his absence was a key factor in their relegation. Put simply, without him they conceded more and earned fewer points. I think he'll do alright here.

I think thats wrong, he played the last game of last season when they got beat 4-1. Pretty sure, he has been involved in more drubbings as well.

Cheers. Forgot 12/13. Lost 4-1 to Arsenal, 2nd last game which saw them go down. Must-win game, 1-1 then Arsenal scored 3 goals between 63-71 minute.

That is them drubbings all listed.

You're ignored a fair few 3-1s and 4-2s though. How does it make a defender look better if his forwards grab a consolation goal?
