hes had a hernia op. hasn't played for a few. its not a huge deal and those saying dreadful signing need to have a word.

we'll need bodies come christmas and after in the run in due to tiredness. plus if people get injured

when leighton baines came he couldn't get past nuno valente. then got a hamstring tear against fulham. Dreadful signing too?

He's our 6th CB, we play 2. I questioned the need for him at the time and I still question it now.

Lescott kept Baines out the side, that was 22 year old Baines who we signed for 6m.

This is a 31 year old injury prone CB who we are wasting wages on each week.

It was a shocking signing.

He is probably our third or at worst fourth choice though. Duffy needs to ply his trade in the championship on loan and is doing so, Stones isnt quite there and Heitinga isnt great. He is the best combination of ball player and defender we have and was brought in to smooth the transition from one style to the other. He is an international and was on a free. All in all it made sense at the time, but as i say, he hasnt had the luck just yet.

LOL!!!!!

The only way the deal made sense was if we were going to play 3 at the back. Perhaps Stones being as good as he is took Roberto a little bit by surprise.

Hopefully Heitinga goes in Jan if Alacacacacazaz is fit and then we don't lose out too much financially.

Maybe it was a consideration of his to play three at the back, or at least have the option to do so. It is a sensible signing that isnt working out so far. Thats all.

I said at the time it didn't make too much sense as going with three at the back would have been a mistake. Not the end of the world though. It means we can get Duffy out on loan for a season and it would have let us get Heitinga off the books if we got the chance.

It could work, but we need to adapt fully to the style of football we have now first, before we implement more game plans. It was low risk for an experienced CB and hopefully, like you say, we can swerve Heitinga.
