It's only September. If hasn't contributed to the squad at all by January, then by all means call it a failed signing with some legitimacy. As it is, any player can get injured at any time, and saying he's a waste of space a couple of months after his signing is obviously premature.

But the chance of making our strengths stronger shouldnt be ignored. I agree he shouldnt go about drastically changing it, thus far he hasnt, but it would be a good thing to have in reserve a player who has played under you in defence, given that that is where we are finding it most difficult to adapt. Its just sensible, not exciting.

Jags is a top player, however as always with me I look at the squad age and always want to see youth come in.....would have no issues if a big bid came in for Jags as long as Stones was ready....that would make sense of us having so many centre backs.
Having said that, not sure Moyes would go for Jags when he has a load of centre backs at Utd

Robles -- No idea at all...seems fine to spend a few hundred grand on a keeper with potential but I'd rather we'd get in a stopgap experienced keeper and search for a superstar new no1.
Alcaraz -- 6th centre back, of which 5 are right sided centre backs...injury prone spitter. Hopefully flog him like Lucas Neill.
Kone -- Cant trap or head the ball....still, if it meant we finally got rid of 'cheebs'...
And to think, for slating these 3 daft signings I got neg repped to oblivion
Hard to call Robles, the early signs arent very promising, but hes a young lid, plenty of time yet.

Indeed.....I was shocked when he signed....worried about Martinez sanity.....now Martinez is growing on me but still wonder why this lad and a 6th centre back were signed....odd.

Not sure how anything he wrote could be disagreed with to be honest.
At the end of the day, Kone cost 6m, hes utter tosh, so its wasted money, but overall, the business we did was superb.
He got Gaz Baz in, the barca lid, the beast who for me are all pluses, jurys out on McCarthy, but personally think he will prove to be a decent signing. and the 3 I mentioned above, all in, good first window.
Sadly I wish this was true, I honestly think I know TOO much, it spoils me really enjoying football, you know, like maybe somebody like you does, I bet you just watch games and dont really take in the tactical side of things at all, I wish I was so blind.

Let's not cast any judgement until he's played a good few games for us. To write him off before he's even pulled on the blue shirt is bizarre.
Seen this very subject being discussed simultaneously on other forums, from a certain section of our fan base. Hmm !
