I don't expect this fella to be as good as Gray but the point is many fans only judge a player based on what they do at their own club.

How else do you judge a player.

Salah was young like De Bruyne. Look what they did after leaving Chelsea. Salah scored a lot at Roma, was never really a gamble, though Liverpool probably didn’t expect him to be as good as he’s been

Im suggesting stop taking what opposition fans say about their players as 100% gospel as every player reacts to different teams/management styles/team mates/ systems/tactics etc.

Go back and read the Leicester fans opinions on Gray on here - apparently he's a frustrating player with no end product...

There's a miriad of reasons why many people are choosing to believe/ or not believe that comes out.

People were slating the Gray & Townsend signings in the summer.. they haven't done too badly since arriving.

For the record I don't necessarily think we need him all that much either.. but to state with utmost certainty that he wouldn't contribute?

Townsend has been marginally better than I anticipated but I still think it was an awful signing, unless our ambition was to finish around 15th. El Ghazi is just a similar level.

….so much doubt being cast over who has the power over transfers is genuinely a major concern for us all.

Its widely accepted Moshiri has been bringing in players throughout the tenure of previous managers, I think it’s entirely likely that trend continues.

I think Gray is a bit different, as he’s always been pacey and able to carry the ball which is something we desperately needed, though I’ll concede the Townsend point is fair.

I guess if it’s a short term loan it wouldn’t be that bad, I’d just prefer to see the club targeting our clear deficiencies in Midfield and central defence as a priority

I think he'll do well for you. He hasn't been shown much love in recent years because we've been able to make signings, but he has been instrumental in getting us to midtable obscurity from the Championship. He's a 26yo international with 10 PL goals last season. Give him a chance.
