Apologise to Southgate

I'm still absolutely surprised we didn't see TRENT in midfield last night to be honest.

He should’ve probably come on for Walker at right back because he had a nightmare and was at fault for both goals. They targeted him from the first minute with Williams on that side.

Walker and Kane look done as footballers for me. Especially Kane who is incapable of even breaking into a jog, can’t jump, and causes centre backs absolutely no problems. Whoever the next manager is needs to move on from them.

To be honest it should've been obvious - Williams was always their main player and their plan has revolved around him and Cucurella down the left for the whole tournament.

If only it was possible to see such things...

But also not sure TAA wouldn't have been abused there as well really - he's not great defensively and I honestly think Walker is still physically faster.

Two Finals isn't a bad return

Just a shame he couldn't win a pot
I'm sure had he met the same calibre of teams he met en route to those finals he might well have done. Unfortunately, even the most fortunate of managers have to play good teams eventually. His record against top 10 teams in the FIFA rankings is really bad. He's gotten away with it because he's blessed with extremely kind draws in the tournaments he's coached that has meant by the time we face/lose to the first decent team, we've gone quite far.

Vinicius Junior agrees.

The Nations League is perhaps the most reliable measure of his ability as it pits us against countries of a similar stature to ourselves. We've generally stank the place out, and were relegated last time round.

I disagree on this. It’s a meaningless competition. That one that England were relegated from was a farcical competition where they were forced to play 4 games in about 10 days right after the season had finished

You could look at his record against Top 10 teams across his tenure if you like. His win rate is around 20%. Better to be lucky than great and all that. Who knows, maybe if his Middlesbrough team had only played Championship times he'd have had a better record with them too.

All of the other teams had to play those games as well.

Graham Potter nailed on as replacement imo

Not sure why people are laughing at this, I think he’d be a great fit. Modern manager, experience of managing abroad and in Europe, set playing style that can be coached through the age groups, and a nice enough personality to not upset the fragile egos of the players. Think he’d suit this group of players down to the ground.

Yes I wasn’t trying to defend his record against top teams. But the nations league is a joke of a competition. No England manager has a good record against top 10 teams
