They've absolutely blown it here IMO.

Not a single doubt in my mind that whatever has happened has been completely weaponised and used as a strategic leak with the timing. That police statement now has just poured petrol on an already burning fire. Only those within that room will know who specifically has leaked it, but by giving it to Journalists to attack the fans with they've effectively turned on the heartbeat of the club.

At this point, she is a victim. Regardless of whether anything happened or not.

The club needed to clarify the situation as soon as it made it to media outlets. They chose not to. She is now cast as a liar or a victim who has been left hung out to dry by her employer.

To those who say "why doesn't she come out and clarify it?", she is CEO of Everton and would potentially be giving a very public resignation if she came out to say the club or someone within the club lied/leaked a true story. Also, she is under no obligation to talk about something if she didn't want to in the first place. The onus is very much on Everton to clear things up.

For those fans who can be arsed to attend the Arsenal game, may I suggest that at a pre-determined point in the games (say 27th minute) you all put each other in a headlock?
A conga line of headlocks.... each attendee headlocking the immediate person to their right. no idea what it'd look like but it'd be just awesome.

How's she a victim if nothing actually happened?

Curious how you worked that one out.

Public resignation? What?

They've already put out a club statement. Do you honestly think our CEO had no clue that statement about an accused physical assault against her?

The police confirming that they have heard nothing about the incident is as much evidence I need to suspect that this was a disgraceful attempt at swaying public media narrative against the support in favour of the board.

You are assuming she put the story out. If she has been caught up in a false narrative that she had nothing to do with, she is being unfairly called a liar.

If she was assaulted but genuinely didn't want to make a big deal about it, someone has gone against her and leaked it to the press. The club could clear it all up immediately either way but haven't, leading to national media outlets reporting on it when she didn't want to.

No, I'm not. I'm assuming the CEO was aware that the statement involving an incident she was involved in. That's a fair assumption, no?

You're making the assumption that this claim was put out without her knowledge which as far as I can tell us based on nothing other than you wanting to believe that.
