Arouna Kone

anichebe was crap, and if kone hadn't had got that injury he'd have been much better for us.

But hindsight ey?

Let's see how he does this season.

Anichebe has went on to have such a boss career.
Victor before that horrific Nolan tackle was just becoming the complete striker - that injury did finish him - same can be said about Vaughny its a shame but they did not cost 6 million , and were passed fit with dodgy knees!

Kone looked ok playing under Martinez for Wigan during 12/13. Scored 11 goals in 33 games (1 in 3 is decent in the prem) and gave Heitinga an awful time of it (maybe not saying much).

I wasn't totally against the idea of signing him in summer 2013. He had a better goals per game ratio than Vic, and Jelavic' was looking like an impact man whose confidence was fading rapidly.

My only reservations were-
1) at 29 we were never going to see any of the 6 mil we spent come back when it came to sell/get rid.

2) however you want to look at it, 6 mil is a lot of money for everton. Don't have the stats to hand but I bet he's easilly in our top 15 most expensive players.

With his age/price tag it was important for him to hit the ground running and play games/score goals. 2 years later he has done neither. He has turned out to be a disaster of a signing and a massive drain on the wage bill. He is now effectively just a stick for people to beat Martinez with when the team are doing badly (possibly rightly so, though I wouldn't do this).

Martinez is a positive man and he will keep saying things like "when Arouna is back fully fit he will have some great moments and create fantastic footballing memories". This may seem annoying to the fans but he obviously can't say what he really thinks which is probably "one of the worst signings I have ever made. I can't wait until July 2016 when I never have to see him/talk about him again".

In short- Kone probably won't do very much at all this season. He's never fully fit/he's low down the pecking order/he's not getting a new deal. Chalk it up to experience. In slightly less than a year he'll be gone forever (probably on a beach with Alcaraz looking at their FA cup medals and counting their everton wages laughing away) and we'll never mention him again!

This is a myth joey, he had a good run but he was never ever going to become a complete striker.

In 131 games he scored 18 goals, that is just absolutely awful.

It was not a myth most of those games were substitute cameos - he destroyed Aston Villa in the FA cup on his own - he was showing potential compared to Kone who is a expensive waste of space- we also recouped funds for Victor, I admit after injury to Nolan his form dipped, but in his youth he was not given 90 minute game time for instance scored two and was dropped for Beattie who cost 6 million, and was like Kone a waste of space! - lets see the balance on funds on Kone when he has to go which will be soon I hope!

mate not once in his everton career did he hit double figures.

You can try and paint things however you want, but he was truly woeful.

Unlike Kone who is a Marvel! also cost 6 million on high wages paint that picture for me?????????
We did well to recoup money on Victor in profit he will score more goals for us than Kone will ever do! paint that one up as well?

Who was worse, Beattie or Kone? Tough choice but I'm going for Kone.

Kone who cost 6m on the back of a very good season, where he scored 11 goals in 33 games.

11 goals which is 7 less than anichebe scored in 98 more games in the premier league.

Kone had scored more goals, in more leagues against better teams than anichebe has, or will ever score.

Before injury Kone was miles the better player, but as it stands he got injured, a injury that nearly ended his career, yet you slate him but defend a absolute dog turd of a player in anichebe that got injured too.. it's hypocritical and makes little sense.

Yes both bad but Kone wins it with a mile Bernie the bolt Wright was supposed to be our worst ever no 9 he scored more than Kone , and I have seen a few Rod Bellfit etc, but when we buy a crock it should not take a three season contract to get rid!

Paint how many goals he has scored for us answers on the back of a postage stamp paint those stats in! IN two seasons = 1 goal?

anichebe went 3 seasons where he only scored 3 goals, in much more games than Kone..

i don't think you're understanding what i'm saying if he had not got injured he would have been a much better acquisition than anichebe had been.

You cant seriously be telling me you think a striker who has scored a career total of 25 goals, is better than one who has scored over a hundred?

you're insane mate.

Kone stats are worse than Brett Angell, and he played in the worst Everton team I've ever seen.

Been injured for almost all of that though mate.

Whether the lad can still contribute something after that crippling menisci injury is still yet to be seen, however he hasn't really had a huge amount of actual gametime over those two years.
