Still don't think he is going to be a prolific striker that will be able to replace Lukaku effectively if lukaku is injured. What impresses me about him is playing just behind Lukaku he holds the ball up so well and is not easy to shake off it, he brings other players into the game and this relieves the pressure on Lukaku and allows Lukaku to take up more dangerous positions. It also makes the oppositions defence have the problem of whom and when to pick up our players....in other words he provides space and more opportunities when he is playing. We are better with him on the pitch rather than the bench.

Agree.
He is actually a much better footballer than most of us ever imagined him to be.

He is. I think we were all guilty of thinking he was going to be a free scoring striker as such whereas he is nothing of the sort. I can only compare him to Peter Eastoe in a way but stronger. Eastoe was good on the ball and he could also bring players into play and also add a few goals but was not prolific.

I still don't like him as a striker, but drifting from wide positions to link with Lukaku he's been good. It's an unusual position that a lot of teams have struggled to deal with. It should hopefully work even better when Baines is fit as it will leave room for him to overlap on the left that Kone vacates when he wanders inside. I like Galloway but he doesn't offer us much in the final third so most of our chance creation is coming down the right or through the middle.

If Lukaku were to get injured, I'm still not sure I'd fancy Kone leading the line by himself but there's no dispute that he's earned that one year extension now - delighted we've found a role for him that's allowing him to be so effective.

good point, i cant wait to see baines back ...we forget he's one of our biggest attacking threats

you say not prolific, but he should bring in 10-15 goals this season not playing as a striker which isn't bad.
It's probably more than you'd expect any other player in that position to score. (Kev, Naismith, Cleverley)

I was at that game and there was defo booing when Kone came on. I was in the middle of the Lower Gwladys and everyone was at it.

Seriously? If you aint on a wind up then that's very sad. Can't remember ever hearing that before. At least wait til he [Poor language removed] up. Kone, before his recent heroics has done nothing to earn his wages but I remember Duncan Ferguson doing the same for long periods.

Erm no. That was actually him celebrating the fact that Rom had given him one of the greatest assists of the season. Unlike most that post on here, these players recognize great football when they see it.
He had done the same celebration previously this season so why was that then?

Sorry Orly, you have been vaulted. You have forfeited your right to hop on the Kone gravy train forever.
