Just listened to Carra talking about us there. Apparently we played well between the boxes but weren’t effective enough in either.

I don’t think that was the case. I’d agree we lacked a bit of cutting edge in finishing our chances but we generally defended really well. Their first was a peach. If anything our problem was quality on crosses and switching off for their second goal.

I’m confident that when all of our first team players are available we will do a lot better. Take a look around at most teams in the league and they struggle when their better players aren’t available or are returning to fitness. We had a game plan today and we looked good for long periods.

New players, new manager, new system same old result but I don’t think it’s the same old Everton. Well, I’m hoping anyway!

So you would prefer to go back to the Allardyce brand of football, please think out what you type before you post it mate. We played well today.

If you have got a striker like DCL up front defending like Allardyce is a must, if you want to get a point or two

It was certainly an improvement on our last three or four visits to Arsenal.

Lots to take encouragement from......but Fulham is an absolute must win game now, to build on the good things we saw today.

We never even got a chance to gather ourselves and have a go after the opening goal for the, the linesman gifted them the points a couple munutes kater.

I think we were very good for considerable spells there. Some of the pressing was fantastic to see. We're lacking quality up front, a bit of guile in midfield and a settled back four. Big problems, no doubt, but I have a lot more faith we can solve them relatively quickly, based on the quality of signing we've made since Brands came in. I'm really happy with Digne, Richarlison and Bernard. If Gomes and Mina are decent, I think with time we'll see things click and will be watching a really exciting Everton side.

I think we're actually within our rights to call this season "transitional" (often it's a bit of an excuse). You simply can't repair the damage Koeman (and Martinez before him) did to the squad of players here in one transfer window. I'm actually quite impressed with how much we've done in just one window.

They had 2 Strikers up top that cost a combined 100m, we had a 1.5m Striker from League One.

Just sayin.

We have got a £25m winger out on loan, a £24m midfielder and a 27m striker on the bench and a £27m defender in the stands.

Well if Twitter is right, every news outlet say Everton outplayed Arsenal, and the scoreline flattered them. Lob in a worldy, and an offside goal, then lob in that probably their cheapest buy was MOTM for them, by a mile, and a slightly different narrative can been seen.

Think the narrative is fairly accurate, nobody is painting the picture (as far as I can tell) that Arsenal totally outplayed us are they? Equally, I’m not sure I agree that anyone is saying that we were good value for anything more than a point. We were just as wasteful as Arsenal, they were just clinical when it mattered. On that basis, they probably deserved their win. At times, we looked brighter than we have done in recent games but no team can afford to keep missing big opportunities in games like these.

We can count ourselves unfortunate to concede the Auba goal but perhaps fortunate not to concede a penalty for the handball. Let’s not forget that Pickford made a couple of very good saves too. In fact i’d argue that Cech was the busier of the two keepers but all were saves you’d expect him to make. Save of the game was Pickford from Monreal for me in the 1st half.

Bernard seems to add something to our game - would like him to start.
I, too, thought we played well for good periods of the match, but lapses in concentration let us down for the first goal. I know the results are frustrating, but I would still prefer to watch what Silva is serving up rather than what we had to endure last season under Allardyce.
Does anyone have any idea when Mina and Gomes are likely to be available? - Hopefully they will be game changers for us.

Also @toffeemax DCL got those chances because he is so quick. Tosun doesn't get those chances because he doesn't have that pace.

DCL should have scored, but so should Walcott. So have a go at Theo as well.
He didn't really though, the defensive line stepped up and no one really then tracked back Tosun would also have got on the end of the ball, Walcott's was a poor touch but he's not leading the line and at least he kind of tested Cech instead of not even having an attempt on targe and almsot stumbling into the keeper.

No, it looks like a work in progress, which is exactly what it is.

We're a premier league team , full of highly paid professional people, a work in progress should be in the championship, or below, not at the highest level! We are not a work in progress, we are what every player and manager aspires to be, the elite!

Every team in the world is a work in progress. All teams are aiming to become better, some are further ahead than others, we clearly have a lot of work to do but I'm optimistic about us improving
