I mean I suppose people want Arteta cos hes worked under 2 very good managers in Wenger and Pep, but Moyes is the person he has worked with the most.

True that, thinking about it we may as well just go for Moyes, afterall he is available, Arteta can work under him for a bit :)

We've all but tapped up Silva .... he's probably been studying the squad / planning moves / scouting etc to get get ready for the last 6 mo.
Arteta suddenly not good enough for Arsenal / never managed .....we'll hire him tomorrow

Arteta is, I believe, 36.

Howard Kendall was 39 when we started winning everything in the '80's.

And, don't flame me, but the other lot didn't do too bad with Dalglish stepping up to player manager with no prior managerial experience.

Both Arteta and Silva would be gambles. Silva slightly less of a gamble but neither gives me the 'wow' factor.

This is another big problem with Silva, we tapped him up, worries me the only reason we might go ahead with it is because we have backed ourselves into a corner, and cant' back out now for fear of him blowing us up to the FA. There's no straight forward logical reason for us to be going for such a low rated manager, apart from desperation, which we shouldn't be right now unlike when we sat third from bottom last November

Of course hes a bigger risk than Silva, your asking him to do a job he literally has never done in his whole life.

.... on the other side, you could equally claim that Arteta's fourteen years of experience in the Premier League as a player and coach versus Silva's eighteen months' worth of experience in the Premier League as a manager makes Silva more inexperienced in the English game, and hence a riskier option. Ultimately it just depends on how you want to view it.

I'm sure Silva is a quick learner, but I'd suggest Arteta has more contacts, knowledge and experience of/in the English game.
