Ashamed of the club

We'll have to wait and judge if they are IMO. Obinna was bought by Inter (by the Special one himself), chased by Roma, but we bagged him from them.

Castilo is rated at £6mill, plays for his country, impressed on trial at Blackburn in pre-season but werent willing to pay the money being they're skint.

Potencial is there -- just like Arteta was a no-one, Pienaar, Cahill -- all nobody's.

I have faith well buy someone big. If not, lets see what we can do.

If that comes off I'd agree it looks like a coup. But even then we know it's short termism, he has to go back to Inter and that means we find ourselves precisely where we started out from - always looking to cobble together a big enough core to the squad to progress as a club. That, for me, is the most destructive part of this whole 'get the loan players in' strategy that would now appear to be club policy.

The point thats being made is that we were a club going places, being linked with the likes of asharvin and moutinho a few months ago !!!

Now we've got a manager who looks like he'd rather kill himself than sign a new contract and we're signing "no marks" that will in no way improve the quality of the squad, only the quantity..... which we were told wouldnt happen !!!

This summer has been [Poor language removed] !!! if the moneys there like we're led to believe then why has it not been spent ? you can't get world class players on the cheap, surely kenwright knows this ?!? (n)

We should know better than to write off players before they have even pulled on the shirt.

I have confidence that I will be digging out this thread in weeks to come when these 'scraping the barrel' signings have proven their worth.

Who gives a [Poor language removed] that we're skint, it wouldn't be everton if it was trouble and drama free.

COYB.

Oh, I agree. But if that's how we have to play it then that's how it is. Not good in the longer term, but we aint got the options.

Moyes just seems very fickle. He's not willing to throw any amount of cash on a long term deals unless he 100% thinks they can help the club long term. And the fact we're chasing or supposidly chasing players in the 10mill bracket, wasting 2-3-4million on players he can get on loan seems a better option.

Piss poor, but its how it is.

C'mon doomies, people were saying we wouldn't have anyone a week ago, and this is surely better, especially with what we've spent. I'm sure we were all afraid of being forced to make some ridiculous panic buys which would drag us down even further. I haven't seen any of our loanies play, just Obinna in the olympics, and if we get him for pants I'll be dancin. (even if it's just for a year, well worth it IMO).

Regardless, I reckon Moyes has earned our trust over the years, and I'll give him that. Obviously it sucks that we're skint, and this last couple of months have been a bit of a disaster. But I'll still be bleeding blue even if we're fighting relegation.

That said, lets just see how these next few days pan out. Call me the eternal optimist, but I'm holding out for something big..

Oh and it's not all bad news.

who said injuries aren't a laugh! Gyahahaha (y)

Relative to some clubs we may be 'poor'. But that hasn't stopped a better performance in the transfer market in recent seasons compared to this one. Whyhas this summer thus far been a washout? We get no explanations, just a whispering campaign against the manager that there is significant money there that isn't being spent. Which begs the question: if he was prepared to spend it in previous years and break transfer records, why isn't he doing it this summer if it's there?

It stinks. We've been taken for mugs and now we're supposed to be getting excited at the arrival of loan deals for players other Premiership clubs reject or wouldn't touch with a shitty stick.

Again I say it - I'm ashamed of this club.

Well mate i think the signings we are seeing now are akin to the signings of previous seasons. The difference this season is that moyes was adamant he wanted better, no more championship gems or promising youths that lost their way, the real deal. I cant fault that he has worked his ass off for the club with very little in the way of money and not a great side when he took over, hes proven he can do the business with less money why shouldnt he be entitled to spend a bit bigger? None of this £11mil record signings business, he wants to get the big names in.

Now we all know this hasnt happened and its obvious that money is the issue, maybe its a lack of money all round or just that moyes hasnt been up for blowing the kitty on one big name. Well good, say we have £25 mil to spend, you want him to throw £20mil at moutinhio and get an Alan smith an some loans? What happens then if Moutinhio cant cut it in the prem, or if he gets injured, or gets involved in some serious whoring with shandy andy? Moyes would look a right **** then and i dont blame him for not throwing endless amounts of money cos sporting just keep pulling figures out of their ass.

A lot of people seem to have fallen in love with Moutinhio (cal :P) well hes one man and he cant do it by himself, so [Poor language removed] it was a nice idea and maybe we've unsettled him enough to get a decent price out of sporting in January, until then plan B is not looking too shabby...

I know some people are prob thinking would moyes not have a back up just in case he couldnt get the big names he was after? Well some of these boys that we are suddenly linked with are looking very much like Moyes signings of previous years and they arent exactly feeling like last minute panic buys. Maybe, just maybe, that crafty scottish [Poor language removed] has been playing games with the media? Why alert all and sundry to free buys and cheap loans when you can have the world laugh as tiny everton struggle in a big transfer market?

I know its unlikely but if BK knew about this id let him off with his smug little smile and his watch this space. I'm prob bein naive but in Moyes I trust...

From June 1st to September 1st they've had time to devise a strategy to get quality players into the club. All we have to show for it, with 5 days to go in the transfer window, are the sale and release of existing squad members, the signing on a free of an old pro for a year long loan and the promise of more loan deals scraped form the bottom of the barrel.

Forget the blame game of 'is it Moyes or the board?' for a minute. I think we can all agree that this situation is outrageous for any top flight club, nevermind one finishing top 5 last season.

.

yes we are light .... this is a problem that has been on the cards for a while . moyes and co should have seen we were driving down a dead end road months ago.

they have also taken a lot of time to sort it out and havent made much ground.

which brings us to this summer.
your asking for quality players , but im sure 'any' club who needs 6 or 7 players would struggle with cash.

its a balancing act for moyes quantity vs quality.

the 'unknown' players he is after on freebies are all international's (they could be bad , they could be good - win win situation- classic moyes)

if he gets 4 loans in ,then we pretty much still have suposedly millions left.
which could mean 2x 10 million players or 1 big big player.

in a few days time we could be looking back over evertons worst summer and kenwright and co's demise.

or it could even be eclipsed by 7 days of pure moyes brilliance.
6/7 international players for 20 million approx.

for his next trick he will fit 5 elephants into a chang bottle.(y)

I kind of agree that throwing almost the whole budget at one guy is risky. In saying that, as far as I'm aware Sporting have said from the beginning that Moutinho is not for sale at anything less than £18m. He's captain, young, gifted and by all accounts popular (at least he was). Imagine if some other club came in for Yak. We might say that we don't want to sell. But perhaps if you come up with £20m we'll let him speak to you. Now imagine that that club fecked around all summer coming up with small bids for a player that we've categorically said will only leave for £20m. That is effectively what we've done. We've chased a player that will not leave unless we splash out £18m on him. So what the hell has the club been thinking? What was the point of it all?

Although I am a hopeless optimistic I do have to point out there are 3 days left and we have signed one player :D Its gonna have to be a hell of a weekend for 6 internationals!

well its been 7 days of looking for deals.

he defo bid for swp and riera , although neither are coming.

jacobsen - signed - we beat 3 clubs for his sig (not sure who)
castillo - about to sign (blackburn rated him but couldnt afford him , wigan wanted him)
obinna - about to sign ( btw the beat roma fiorentina , west ham and monaco to his signature)
zayatte - about to sign
motta - between us and pompey
zigic - between us and villa
larsen -( rumour)

moyes has clearly been working his socks off this week looking for freebies.
notice how everyone of them has been an international.

yeah, lets all show our scorn towards the club, boo anything that moves and get rogan in to setup a fans fund with some plaudits from some no-mark in parliament.

moyes once spoke of 'managing expectation' - maybe he is finally realising it is his own expectations that need curbing in terms of what he can expect from fans.

nothing but miracles moyesie laaa, get conjuring or get walking. the fans way or the highway.

JESUS !

I'm not ashamed of the club. I cant lower myself to that but I'm pissed off with the lack of activity. Sick of gettin stick in work because of it and I cant give a decent arguement back and I'll argue with the fuckers till am blue in the face. If you lknow your history and all that... Quote my happy Everton

Heh.

No doubt a sentiment shared by many who thought the same think about Cahill and Lescott years ago.

"Championship players?"

"We're scraping the bottom of the barrell now...."
