Ashamed of the club

But for every Arteta, Howard and Pienaar, there's a Fernandes, Ferrari and Gardner. It's a hit and miss affair: try it and see how it works out. It's good in some respects as you can offload signings that dont work out and sign up the successes (although obviously that hasn't been the case with Fernandes). But you pursue that policy because it's a necessity not a virtue. We wouldn't be dealing in the transfer market in this way ideally.

benefits of loan deals

no risk opportunity to see if a player wants to earn a contract at your club

no risk opportunity to see if a player can translate his brand of football for your team

no risk opportunity to see if a player can play the english game, that he can live in england (players not getting acclimatised to the culture, the weather etc) - think Veron, think Kroldrup etc.

downsides

trouble signing the player on a contract after a successful loan deal. (only if there hasn't been an agreed fee set up, or the player gets funny about wages)

Ideally we'd do this every season. I fail to see a downside.

Look at VDM. we'd got him on a loan we'd have more money to spend now.

dont remember us sending him back as much as there were big problems getting him to sign a contract. the fee with his club was a formality as it was agreed in the loan deal but arteta wanted fiscal compensation because of special tax exemption rules in the basque region that he wouldnt be eligible to in england.

Moyes at the time played hardball over his wage demands, as did arteta.

cant remember us ever "sending him back" although he did go back himself - or even dropping negotiations. but thats how my memory serves me, ive been wrong before.

seems a lot of fans want their cake and to eat it too. we are a skint club in comparison to many. we should play hardball over wages.

some fans seem to think we should pay over the odds for players, never use loan deals, let players set their own fanciful wage demands, smash our wage structure, pay agents fanciful money.

we have to bargain, get money off players, use loan deals, sign bosmans etc.

its part of the game. no point pretending we are chelsea and money isn't an object.
First over Arteta it was Everton who wanted to change the agreed deal not them ,I'm just glad it got sorted, I dont think we should pay over the odds as such as I think EVERY player is overpaid but if and I agree we are not going to pay the going rate how ever high and other clubs will and do why bother going for the guy? all it does is frustrate the fans and makes us look stupid as soon as we find a possible player surely the club can ask his agent for a rough figure the guy is after then if its too high just walk away with out all the [Poor language removed] that goes on.Our fans are not daft we know Kenwright has not got the cash and there is no shame in that I dislike him lying to us but accept you cant spend what you dont have I just think it gets handled in a truly unprofessional way.

What he said, coyney mate.

Theres no denying that we're [Poor language removed] at transfers; Im not of the opinion that its Kenwright - Moyes has stated that theres money available for a while now. I really dont get what our fans get riled about, Kenwright has always provided the money for the manager. Sure, we're not rich like some of the others but do we really want a Thaksin type owner?

It just seems that Kenwright is the agreed easy target to over react on for all of life troubles, he's not a bad egg.

once the vitriol and venom was shared out between two - wyness and kenwright. the new ceo has kept his head below the parapet and so cant be shot at just yet - but its in the post - have no illusions about that.

i wonder what percentage of the people banging on about supposed ''clear lack of funds'' actually voted against the extra 10mill a year for the manager at kirkby.

want their cake and eat it too.

If it did go tits up in a couple of years, you would be hard pushed to find a blue who admitted to voting no. Pretty much everyone now agrees the Kings Dock would have been boss yet at the time there was a sizeable lot who was behind the Goodison For Ever-ton campaign.

Protest, thats what we do best.

Anyone who defend's the club after this summer needs to and support someone like Hull or Stoke where 1 win in 38 games is what they want.

Isee you know this well Suits so explain to me where this extra £10 million comes from the club said IF we fill the ground which is unlikely we never fill Goodison that often and the rest from use of the stadium and its facilities.when Kirkby have stated we can not use the ground for non football activities concerts ect because of disturbing the locals and the same council want to use the conference room for free100 times a year with us paying them the cost of holding it elsewhere if we cant allow it as compensation .this is off the Kirby council statements as I would not trust Keioc myself although I admit I am a no voter,

I chose not to blame the club for all of life ills and my own inadequacies.

Forza 'ull.

Oh come on Chico, Everton is the reason for all of lifes ills and our own inadequacies. Thats what I tell people anyway. 'Nik why did you fail your A levels?' 'Everton havent signed any players and I speant all my time thinking of ways to raise funds for Moutinho'

Easy.

Is not right. :@

It is. We're not [Poor language removed] Boro or some [Poor language removed] like that, putting up with mediorce crap every summer. Bringing in free's and loans.

We're a team who finished 5th last year, we're inches from breaking the top 4, it was plainly obvious to see. But our lack of squad prevented us last year. So i thought it was the time to bring in quality and quantity. We haven't. We're a [Poor language removed] mess.

You might be alright plodding along in 9th or 10th every season and enjoying a cup run to the quarters, but i'm not.

In fairness we were quite some way off finishing fourth, we [Poor language removed] ourselves at the end of February.

Demanding big money signings and spitting out the dummy is reserved for those in black and white stripes. [Poor language removed] me, look at Spurs?

We're Everton and we're cooler than that. Fonz like.

other thing i wanted to say. Because we struggle to bring the players in, when they do come to our club - they really want to come here!

we dont end up with mercenaries (vdm perhaps aside). Players under moyes methods really play for the shirt not the cash. And it shows on the pitch.

(which is why in retrospect its a good thing that rooney went, 'cos he wanted to play for money).

sure by the time the season ends, we'll have found three proper gems. along with some squad players.

Right on there Leonbil.

Glad to see you posting on a regular basis again.
