This 'ten million is the new five million' nonsense needs to be stated for what it is.

Rubbish.

A 32 year old is not worth £10 million when we can go out and buy two 26 year olds for the same price.
Utter dribble, where are these two 26 year olds that offer the same as Williams? One 26 year old Williams would be costing £20m plus in today's market not £5m.

Just out of interest and idle curiosity, who are the two 26-years olds you imagine we could sign for the same price ?

The more I think of this one the more I want it to happen. Adds leadership and experience and won't have a spell settling in to the league.

Ahhh mate, Damo's fond of making the sweeping statements and then not bothering to even try answering them when he gets called on what he said, no chance he will try answering

Mate why would I answer something that is self evident? :coffee:

I was very disappointed with Distin and I was one of his most vocal critics on this forum.

fair enough.

many (including me) feel he was a fantastic signing and good value for money considering he was great for us up until his final season (when I equally was one of his most vocal critics, though the football we played in 14/15 was not at all suited for him).

Opinions though.

We signed Distin in 2009 for £5m at around the same age. 7 years on and 7 years of PL inflation and people are questioning £10m? When I first saw the story, my first reaction was that is was BS because it was too cheap.

This lad, for £10m is a good deal, he's good for another 3 years.

Its NOT a good deal.

Its only a good deal when people are desperate for any sort of signing and think spending £10 million on a player close to retirement is 'good business' when this clearly is not.
