it's all relevant. If he comes in, organises our defence to a top 4 defence for 2 years then it's up to the rest of the team to perform. Then it seems like a bargain. Transfer fees are only relevant if you want resale. We don't need to worry about that so much anymore. The money in the game now means £10M isn't a massive amount anymore, I think it's just hard for some people to grasp because although money in the game has gone mad this new tv money has completely changed preconceptions of transfer fees and players worth.

As a side note I can see this money changing transfers for a few years at most. Once all the extra money is tied up in new players and contract renewals of those who want parity with incoming players you will probably see those with more money to pull away again. We will just be left in a place where either the tv money deals keep pace with clubs spending or we will go back to having the haves and the have nots.

People seem to forget that we don't need to spend 50 million on a CB if a proven Prem defender and leader in Ashley Williams is available for merely 10 million.

Exactly mate, I know already it's a bit old but Leicster won the league with Huth at centre back. Off on a bit of a tangent here sorry pal but having a player of John stones footballing ability is great if he fits your system. It's not the only system you can use to win games though

Our defence is a shambles - if we don't shore it up fast the season could be a write off (may take Koemann time to undo Martinez habits).

Here is a player who can do this straight away and could even be captain. £10m will be cheap if we get something decent out of the season
