Because he got one season left in him - Let's play Unsworth instead hey!
He will demand high wages not the future 10 million for one season too much IMO!
Who was the last great centre half (your words) that just fell off a cliff at 32? And what reason do you have that has made you think Williams will go the same way.

Your missing the point here - if Williams comes and organises a back 4 that concedes for arguments sake 10 less goals but earns an extra 3/4 places higher in the premier league, he has effectively paid for himself. As Liverpool have seen with carragher if you lose the organiser in a back 4 you are far more likely to concede, they would have won that league if carragher was still involved. For us higher places and potential Europa then attracts better players and you start a momentum - it will take at least a couple of years before we are perhaps ready to compete for top 4 and top drawer players.

I'd like to point out that while I'm not the biggest fan of this potential signing, Wes Morgan just won the title and was one of the best CB's in the league, just because he was a no-nonsense type.

Why not, for next-to-nothing money?

he isn't a has been Joey? He's in his prime as a centre back.

Our squad is full of 'potential'. Ideally we need players in the 25-29 bracket who have the experience and quality.

Obviously, Williams is a tad older, but with a defender of his ilk that's not an issue.

Again, I'll state that I'm not convinced this signing will happen, or there's anything more than interest, but I do definitely think it's the type of player that would improve us and that RK will want.

If he does come here I would view him as being a very solid and dependable player to have straight in the 1st team whilst Galloway, Holgate, Foulds, Feeney etc get the opportunity to develop. No point in buying all these highly rated youngsters to just discard them all. Surely one will have every chance of being successful here.

Hopefully Stones would stay too and get to work alongside savvy pros. Different transfer strategy perhaps.

Can't build a whole team of prospects with potential. You'll be watching Everton in the championship.

Spurs came close last year but as the season came to the final few weeks all the young inexpeierence started to show. Discipline issues, bad decisions, etc. Need some old heads in the team who have been there and done that to help the younger ones.

Would be a good signing to help a bad defense.
