Which I hope ain't true cos Browning, Galloway look like they've got futures.

And well...Garbutt was the new Baines one year ago...
I was amazed to read Galloway is going on loan. I thought he made a big impression on Koeman in last season's game at St Mary's. Poor move, imo. He doesn't need to step down a division, especially if we're playing that new Johnstones Trophy competition this season. There was at least 4 games there for him and the possibility of more after the group stages. Benitez will ruin him.

You should point out to some of the more excitable posters that this is all conjecture on your part. If you are right (and I think you are), it would suggest that he's is going all out to make an impact, no doubt in an effort to further his career, but if he picks up a trophy then happy days. Football is a results business these days and the pressure is enormous, so it's perfectly understandable that managers think short-term. Hopefully, Moshiri and Walsh will be thinking longer-term, looking for potential and investing in our youth system and infrastructure, please give them the benefit for now.

I've got no issue with it, I'm happy we are splashing the cash on proven players with limited resale value. I'm all about today, if Koeman wins a trophy and sods off to sunnier climates I'll gladly wave him off and wish him all the best.

It's a wise move if you're trying to protect a £6M a year contract.

Ultimately unsustainable though. We have a well advanced youth policy at the club and it bears playing and financial rewards for us. We turn our backs on that for any length of time at our own peril.

Erm... Skint and no trophy in twenty years.

I feel so dirty agreeing with you, but if you're wrong I don't wanna be right

Excellent signing. Really fills a gap in our squad.

I can't see Jags staying, though, which is a shame. Either he remains captain in name, while Williams does the actual on-field marshalling, or he steps down to let Williams be captain.

The latter seems more likely to me. If he is replaced as captain, I just can't see him still being in the dressing room. It'd be too awkward.

Got to admit the soundbites from him and koeman make me happy with this signing.

Not always happy with us signing older players but he brings qualities we are lacking at the back so very shrewd signing here.

I look forward to seeing him controlling the defence
