So Dave what were you measuring Martinez by?

Playing football on the ground and dragging us away from the Moyes medieval period; getting decent league positions; winning a trophy.

Same criteria as I'm judging Koeman on.

For Martinez he undoubtedly changed the direction of this club's style from hoofball to a passing game; we went for one season very close to a CL spot with a 21 win season with a lot of attacking and entertaining football - then he lost his way by failing to manage games when in decent positions (and failing to manage strongly players who didn't wish to be managed by him); got us a couple of steps away from silverware - good but no cigar.

That's a fair appraisal of just three seasons here.

Let's put it this way: that first Martinez season was worth 22 Moyes seasons never mind the mind numbing 11 seasons he was here.

Koeman has the reins now, and he'll be judged fairly, but at £6M p.a. he;s getting no free passes from me. Get the job done in two seasons or take a hike.

I'd like to know what his actual remit from Moshiri was...

I doubt he's been given £6M to get 6th mate, let's put it that way. The last two managers reached that position. No, Moshiri will be looking for a move to the next level.

Personally I dont think Koeman is a great manager. I admire what he did at S'ton but I dont think 7th/6th with them gives any guarantee he'll push on to 3rd/4th with us any time soon.

It's going to be fascinating, because Koeman is a character who'll react big time to events. He's not going to belt up like Moyes/Martinez. As goat suggests: we're looking at 24 months tops with this feller.

I don't care if we get relegated as long as we get 72 points...

Really, I just want to enjoy seeing Everton win games, and play well- Europe should be the initial aim. A shiny would be nice too. I absolutely hated watching Everton the past two years.

Success is easy, to finish higher than 11th.

Failure the same, anything less than 10th is failure.
In two seasons time you'll still be giving a pass to a feller brought in to kick the club on but only crawling over the midtable point?

We're defo shooting for the stars!

It was a trick answer, cos its not possible for ANY manager in world football to finish lower than 7th with the group of players available at Everton, it would take a special breed of failure to get such a squad of players to finish 11th, twice.

As I keep saying David, I want Everton to compete in every game we play, in 2 seasons I would expect a European adventure, given the amount of funding that will be available to him, so top 7 or a trophy, within 24months.

But I wont be calling for his head if he doesnt achieve it.

I gave Martinez 2 and a half years to get it right, 5 transfer windows.

Koeman will be afforded the same leeway by me.

If hes still here in 3 years and we havent improved and got back to the "best of the rest" spot that Moyes got us to then maybe questions need asking. Martinez followed an excellent manager, who drilled the team how to defend and win matches, Koeman has been left a squad that has been utterly neglected and abused on a professional level for 2 years. Its going to take time to heal the evil.

You'd like to think so but, as with players, you sometimes have to pay over the odds to get the ball rolling. Whether that's the case with us or not is unknown but I'm sure it's not going to take much more than a season to find out.

He must be one of the top 10 paid managers in world football.

I'd say Moshiri will look at it and think 1st season get us back to respectability table-wise; second season into Europe and/or a trophy. If that bare minimum is not being met he's toast.

1 Pep Guardiola (New) Manchester City £15m (3 year deal set to start in 2016-17 season
2 Jose Mourinho(new) Manchester United £13.8m (3 year deal with option to extend to fourth year)
3 Carlo Ancelotti(new) Bayern Munich £9m (signed a 3 year deal to remain at Bayern till 2019)
4 Arsene Wenger Arsenal £8.30m (signed a 3 year deal in May 2014)
5 Zinedine Zidane Real Madrid £8m (2 and half year deal)
6 Jurgen Klopp Liverpool £7m (3 year deal)
7 Antonio Conte (new) Chelsea £6.5m (3 year deal from 2016-17 season)
8 Luis Enrique FC Barcelona £7m
9 Mauricio Pochettino(new deal) Tottenham £5.5m (signed 5 year extension till 2021 season)
10 Rafael Benitez Newcastle United £4.5m (signed a three year deal after newcastle were relegated)

Interesting times ahead...no doubt the Wenger situation at Arsenal has had an affect on his managerial mindset; I just wonder in what way.
