Ashley Williams

El Fraudo? Until this Dutch lad gets anywhere remotely near what Martinez did in a season I think I know where my use of the word is going.

By the way, Williams was signed by Martinez for Swansea, and he attempted to bring him here.

Another inconvenient truth that will no doubt now be ignored.

Why? It's under different circumstances. It was 5th nothing more nothing less.

It's pretty obvious why people dislike Martinez. Season 2 season 3 overrided anything it was that bad and it seems you don't remember.

No point of saying Williams would have signed for him because that was purely rumour unlike that crap Hull RB who would join Everton if the crap manager was not sacked because a fee was agreed.

Didnt Koeman want to sign a "crap RB" from Southampton?

Currently we could have done with either of them....

First. What you said was rumour.

Second, the crap Hull RB said it himself. Everything was agreed but the sacking of Martinez means he wouldn't move here.

Who is this Hull RB?

Also do we never learn that it doesn't really matter what players do elsewhere? Gueye for example.

Believing that Williams was anything less than brilliant yesterday, because of a shot that was going in anyway, is like believing davek is actually being serious with anything he says.

Its nice to go from 14th in goals allowed, to 5th, considering the only change to the back 4 was Williams.

That wouldn't be too difficult in this defence. I think it's a poor defence all told. They are protected very well by the likes of Gueye and Schneiderlin in front of them and we get everyone back behind the ball to never see their lack of pace exposed.

If we are to progress we'll have to start defending a lot further up the pitch - because all we do now in games like last night's is to play two banks of defence and then have to go from very deep to get a counter attack going...itself almost impossible when Koeman wont commit bodies to that counter attacking.

Williams is part of that problem. A big part of it.

While I agree we do need defenders with more pace, so we have the option to push higher up the pitch, I thought he got it spot on last night. It reminded me a lot of when we beat City 4-0. We soaked up the pressure and hit them on the break time and again. With better play from the forwards we'd have scored a few more last night.

That seems to work against sides who aren't the most mobile, but not against sides who move much quicker. Hence why we need pacier players ourselves so we can play well against both.

I think Williams has been poor all season, and I personally think that Jags is the superior player. But Williams did play well last night (as did Jags) and it was harsh how his night ended.

It does. Gana was a signing of Walsh by the way.

And you can't compare Gana with Elmohamady.

"...my move to Everton was compromised due to the departure of Roberto Martinez, and the signing of Dutchman Ronald Koeman."

I can...

You never know how a player will do at a club until they sign for said club.

I'm not sure what the Walsh thing has to do with anything?

Elmohamedy isn't even that bad! Not saying he is great or anything but its nothing like a McGeady signing as he has proven he can do a job in the premier league whereas McGeady has not.

Mate, Elmohamady is absolutely awful. He can't even get in Hull's side this season, and before that couldn't get in a woeful Sunderland, he can't "do a job" for anybody.
