Ashley Williams

I think what it is with Williams is that everyone was expecting this colossus signing who was gonna be the best leader, the organiser and a very solid all round player.

He's came in, he's done a good Job defensively and even though his distribution is poor and he hasn't met people's quite high and unrealistic targets, he's been fine.

We do need to replace him, but he was always only going to be a stop gap, and as stop gaps go, being in a defence which has kept 14 clean sheets isn't bad going for me!

The first paragraph has been the disappointment for me. I had such high expectations because every time I saw him at Swansea he was a man mountain carrying the team forward. For whatever reason that hasn't happened here but he's still done alright for the most part.

He had been at Swansea for a very long time. Big ask to simply transfer to a new team both form and authority. Some do it some take a season or so. Without him we would have had to rely on an out of form Jagielka and Funes.

It probably was unrealistic. Just hope age doesn't catch up with him as he'll still be decent to have in the squad even if he's not a definite starter.

Without him we would have been in the crap.......

Without big Ash, Swansea are in the bottom 4.

With big Ash, we have the 5th best defensive record in the Premier League.

Just sayin...
I'll be honest with you, I was delighted when we signed him, but in truth I don't think he's played as well as for us, as he did for Swansea. Saying that, when you look at those stats you put up, it puts his contribution to both clubs into perspective.

Playing in a team with 6 or 7 defensive minded players is going to help in the defensive department of any team.

Big fishes in little ponds always look amazing.

His first season, at a big club he's done well. Personally I think he needs a bit of youth and pace next to him, even though since Jagielka got back into the team he's done well. I like the way he protects the younger lads, always talking to Holgate and Davies throughout the game. And against Watford, he was straight in there to protect Davies.

He was never going to be a Baresi for us, but he's had a solid first season, and I think he'll have a better one next season.

Baines Jagielka and Williams need to leave. I'd rather have Mori in CD and fill in at LB....that's how poor those three are.

Been ok. Nothing more. Nothing less.

What did you expect from a defender from Swansea?

Makes me laugh that people want Maguire as he's 'a no nonsense defender'. Exactly what people are moaning about Williams for.

He is a good defender but he has Swansea written all over him, some players just belong at certain clubs, like big Dunc for us. He should encourage him to go back and throw a few bob the swans way for Sigurdsson.

Makes sense for all
