We need a centre half regardless of Stones staying or going so im not against Williams signing. Its clear that Koulibaly is a Stones replacement so, like i say - Nothing wrong with bringing in Williams. Has a better injury record these days compared to Jagielka it seems, which is a shame, i love Jagielka.

I dont think he's a Stones replacement either. If we get £42.5mill for Stones (assuming the fee is £50mill) then we could possibly have signed Williams and Koulibaly for an outlay of around £8mill, which is very good business.

Be a great signing for me,if we dont mess it up actually signing him, always puts his heart on the line, and could be the new captain for me

Him playing on when it appeared he had done his arm in playing for Wales was inspirational. He is a no nonsense leader of men. We lack that more so than players with ability. Someone with those qualities could potentially get an extra 10% out of everyone else.

We only have 3 senior centre backs - One of which doesnt want to be here and another is injured and seems to pick up a fair few injuries these days. Signing someone like Williams is most definitely needed. Squad needs boosting - puts less pressure on the young lads.

Excellent signing - him and Gueye might not look quite as exciting as well all hoped at the start of the window, but if they'd come after a Koulibaly/Witsel etc. we'd be over the moon. Hopefully the marquee names will come later but for now very pleased.

Straight away though, them 2 signings will add some steel and bite to a nicey nice powderpuff team.

Not a fan of Williams myself, but not a bad player tbf. To put a spanner in the works, this is the first time that he hasnt had a summer off, being involved with Wales. We all know how players tend to suffer a bit after a summer tournament and I think at his stage of his career, it might take a bit out of him. Can we afford to have a player who might struggle towards the business end of the season.
