Wanted him last year. Not so much now we 'have money', but is certainly a better defender than Stones short term.

Definitely an improvement in what we have. Anyone who thinks we're going to sign a load of world class youngsters and finish top 4 is deluded. We must have the physically weakest squad in the premier league. That's just a guess

A solid spine to the team is as important as the flare players as we witnessed last season. I agree it will be a big improvement. A good leader/organiser too which we also seem to lack the last couple of seasons.

.....linked with Koulibaly, you would have to think spending £10m on a 30year old is because we can't bring in the players we want. We need reinforcements but the latest rumours (Williams/Gueye) are not the type of players to take us to the next level.

Looking a bit grim unless things pick up in the next fortnight.

no chance. You seriously think our first choices are a £40m CL regular and a holding midfielder who's just won the euros for about £20-£25m and our backup options are players from villa and swansea? There's no way there'd be that much of a margin between first and second choices. Big money future potentially world class centre back form abroad ... to a more experienced leader who knows the prem - there'll almost the exact opposite of centre back.

Does it really? He's been one of the best centre backs in the league for 3 or 4 seasons. Guaranteed performer and leader with a fair few top seasons left in him. £10m is about right in the current climate I'd say.

After watching his performances at the Euro's maybe Koeman is looking at him to play in a 3-5-2?

I'd be very pleased if this went through. (On the assumption we get a couple of the big names we are after too.)

I've calculated he will cost Everton £6.8 million per season for the next three years if these figures are correct.

Thats far too much for a player with NO value at the end of three years.

If the fee was lower I wouldn't be against it. But its too high.

we have loads of money, why would we worry about "No Value" at the end of it? Value would be the leadership and commanding he'd bring to our defence which may see us win a trophy or qualify for the champions league. You can't say no value, just because he'd have no sell on fee, why on earth would we want to buy players with sell on fees in the back of our mind?

Have you factored in shirt sales?
