10 million pounds is the new 5 million pounds and 31 years is the new 28 years so not too bad

Its amazing how people can just devalue transfer fees in the blink of an eye.

Its basically 2/3 of the club's second highest ever transfer fee.

People willing to go out and just lash £10 million PLUS the wages for the next three years

i.e. throw money around like its water.

Unreal. o_O

I've calculated he will cost Everton £6.8 million per season for the next three years if these figures are correct.

Thats far too much for a player with NO value at the end of three years.

If the fee was lower I wouldn't be against it. But its too high.

Koeman is costing us 7m a year for the next 3 years not counting the fee we paid to get him, at the end of his contract he can leave for nothing, as can any player no matter the fee paid for them so in theory buying any player carries the risk of no value at the end of there deal

He's not counted the same in the club's finances.

Players are assets in the accounts.

The manager is a strategic asset but he's not officially counted in the accounts as such.

Further there is no equivalence between the manager and an individual athlete since the manager can still perform his duties, in the event of:

injury

for example.

An athlete e.g. player cannot.

So imagine we spend £10 million. He does his ACL. Is out for a year and doesn't come back.

Thats £20.5 million wasted over three years.

If I have the choice I will definitely go for younger option. I agree to your point of spending £10m on a 32 years old with no resale value is madness in Everton terms(ok may change now since the Mosh is in). It looks to me we are getting really desperate.

In 1998 World cup winner Marcel Desailly cost Chelsea 4.6m @ 30 years old.

Factoring in inflation that works out to be 5.4m in 2016.

Footy has gone Loco.

Thank you.

Someone else understands my point. :coffee:

Its all a balance. £10 million is too much the other side for me.

I wouldn't say we are 'desperate'

Its only reported in the Sun and the Mirror.

But still. £10 million is madness.

So go on then mate, it's not about the actual money then accoridng to you, but about the specific money because it is a player, so obviously what you are saying is it is FFP relatyed, care to explain how williams impacts us on that score please?

This should be worth the wait...

Ashley Williams has agreed to become Ronald Koeman’s first signing at Everton .

The Swansea defender will make the switch to Goodison Park after the clubs agreed a £10million fee for the 31-year-old.

The Toffees are in Germany and yesterday played Real Betis in a friendly but Koeman needs reinforcements – and Williams fits the bill.

(No links to Mirror please)

Good defender, I'd be more than happy with Williams in an Everton shirt for two or three years.
NEA about the fee. The world's gone mad, just run with it.

I'm sure we have business insurance on such expensive assets.

Yes mate the bloke who thought the pope could call Ramadan at any point he fancied in the year understands you point, clap, clap, clap

I'm saying its not just STCC and FFP - but fundamental BUSINESS related.

When you start over paying for things.

That makes people lazy in business terms.

That is a trend we should not get into. Simple as that really.
