What about the "we are not looking to sell him" bit though? People seem to be ignoring that part for some reason

we aren't actively looking to sell Stones. Doesn't mean he won't go if somebody meets his valuation.

They could have ended the debate by stating:"We don't want to sell the player and will resist all offers.." - which is basically what we stated last summer with the Stones thing.

They haven't. They're basically saying 'we don't want to sell [cos he's our captain and best player], for the price currently on the table'

yeh Lou I've got no qualms about it.

We seem to have agreed the fee in principle but they've changed their minds. It's a seller's market and they don't want to sell, so it's fair enough.

the fact that their public statement basically just screams 'we won't accept this offer' though tells me this isn't over unless we decide to move on, so it just depends how determined we are to get Williams in.

Yeah every player has a price, think Swansea are probably looking at what it would cost to replace him as well.

Not sure if we should go up oin this bid because of his age, but by the sounds of it I cant see Swansea going for it, personly I think we should draw the line on this one and look elsewhere.

If we go a penny higher than the supposed £10m that has been rejected then we are crackers!!
Move on and find another or tell Stones he's going nowhere

why?

really, what's the difference a few mil makes mate?

Zilch, in the grand scheme of things.

and we want Williams irregardless if Stones goes or not - which if he does we'll get so much for him a few mil for Williams will be a drop in the ocean anyway

Not surprised at this. They all know we have money and that Moshiri is willing to pay above value for guys he really wants. It doesn't hurt Swansea at all to ask for a little more money and, frankly, we'll probably pay a few extra million.

I'm assuming that Koulibaly is off and Williams has become plan B. Hard to know how deep in the barrel we'll be digging if go down to plan C or plan D.
