I think I've just gotten to expect players forcing moves through. Equally, after seeing it happen to us plenty of times in the past I don't have sympathy for any teams that we do it to!

See this is where I differ from some I guess. If this is a player we want, a player that we think can improve us today, and a player that is keen to join our squad then we should now have the resources to make it happen.
Screw whether or not Swansea want to sell. If Everton wants the player and the player wants Everton then 10 million or 12 or 13 million - whatever, just show some stones and get the deal done and over the line.
For those that say this it too much I disagree. For a proven player with leadership qualities who will improve us right now and likely for another 2-3 years it is not too much. The extra 2-3 million comes back in marketing revenue when our performance on the pitch is immediately improved and our place in the standings is enhanced.
If we cannot get this kind of deal done then we will never get to the places we want to go.

And the bit in bold is where I think we're at.
If we really want him, which we seem to, we'll make another bid.
If we don't make another bid it's cos we have other targets.
I won't imagine we'll have anything more concrete on this though until after tomorrow's game.
People are hypocrits. They are the first to be offended when other fans say it about Stones, Lukaku etc but its fine when its us that want a player.
Swansea may want him to put a request in to save on a loyalty bonus but he's their player and they can ask for what they want. We must know what figure they are looking for so we pursue or move on - simple.
Could just be a move by Swansea to try and save face with their fans, by making it look like they're doing their utmost to keep him, forcing Williams to then put in a transfer request.
Sounds a bit like the Chelsea/City fans accusing us of pricing Stones out of a move to a CL club and playing for a top manager - how awful we were being to poor John.
Swansea have to do whats right for them - not Williams, he signed a contract and has 2 years left.
Same could be said about us mate blocking Stones' move to Chelsea, or demanding £50m from City for him now, or putting a price on Lukaku of £75m.
