Ashley Williams

Reckon it would be worth to go up a little bit to get him. Would improve us massively if he came. But I agree with Big Bobs Beard, we´re probably being used a bargaining chip for a new contract, like we´ve seen before this summer.

It wouldn't surprise me if Williams sign a new contract at Swansea, this story has been so prominent in the media and yet we've only just bid suggests to me that the leak is from the Welsh end, to possibly force Swansea's hand.

spot on.

Supposedly Williams has accepted our terms - the deal was agreed upon (all in principle of course) with all the parties.

We haven't f*d up here, Swans seem to have chnaged their mind/wanting more.

It may well be that this doesn't end up happening, which would be a great shame, but I think it's more 50/50 than off completely.
It'll happen, if not then Swansea will have a very disgruntled captain. One thing for clubs to negotiate a fee, another thing entirely for Swansea to allow him to agree his own terms, verbally consent to him leaving then pull the plug for more cash. To me, £2m more and a subsequent PR victory for Swansea re 'doing all they could' will get it over the line.

There not much room here to go up on a bid due to his age. We can't offer any more then 10 million for a player who about to turn 32.
Thought this was a silly bid tbf plus I can see Williams staying with an improved contract.

Time for walsh and Koeman to loo further then the premiership but all clubs are going to overcharge us as we are asking for over 100 million for two of our players.

Yep, we're not asking for 100 million because we need to ask for 100 million...and it doesn't mean we're going to share it with the likes of Swansea! 10 million is our offer and if not accepted, so be it. Look elsewhere.

I think this is more of a 'look we put up a fight but the lad just wanted to leave' type situation.

Sounds to me that at the eleventh hour Swansea moved the goalposts.... personally, as much as I rate Williams, it is time to move on. I was always uncomfortable with Everton paying £10m for a near 32 year old.... anymore money and I pass.

Swansea are trying to save face a bit by showing some resistance when someone comes for their captain. A higher bid will be all that is necessary. Similar to what Leicester did with Walsh.

Key phrase in Swansea statement is 'currently on the table'.

ie: A little more cash will see it right.

That's how i've seen it.

If we actually want to pay the price, we'll get him. From everything i've heard, we seemed to have agreed fees, passed medicals and most importantly he wants to sign for us. Seems to me like Swansea had a change of heart and went all out for a few extra quid.
