2023/24 Ashley Young

He was a good wing back, a very good wing back. He was never a good full back , but, he did have pace, which often bailed him out when he made mistakes. He has no pace now and more importantly for us, no real defending nous. He is a walking yellow card because just about everyone he plays against these days can leave him for dead in a foot race.

If Dyche continues to play him we are well and truly Donald Ducked this season, Dyche seems to have blind faith in certain players, see Keane last season as an example. Let's just hope he cops himself on a little more quickly this time and accepts that Young should never be more than a third choice right back, behind Coleman and Patterson.

Quite a simple explanation for this mate, his legs have gone, so avoid getting rinsed, he resorts to fouling.

It really is that simple.

The only one who appears not to have noticed this is Dyche.

His legs just don’t move fast anymore , his brain might know what to do but his legs can’t keep up , no shame in that , it happens to everyone but he should be nowhere near a prem starting 11

Dyche will always pick experience over youth imo. If he has 2 players of a similar level in his head, he will go for experience.

He would have already dropped Branthwaite for Keane, if he’d made a few mistakes. McNeil has been garbage, but he will start v forest, dobbin may not be good enough, but does he deserve a chance?

100% legs have gone. But as an experienced player he should be cognizant of this and not launch into challenges.
Liverpool and UTD he's coughed up early yellows.
In hindsight knowing the result on Sunday, I wish he copped another red, at least he'll be out of the side.

Yeah. Got to have competition. Just like he dropped Kegger for Branthwaite, needs to do the same with Young

Form wise he's done and Patto should jump in

It is very worrying that dycjes best decisions seem to be when he is forced into them isn’t it?

Persisting with Keane despite his errors , persisting with garner at rm until gana forced his hand with injury and now playing young even though he has scored and own goal, took three touches on the goal line before smashing the ball into the Luton player as he scored , sending off against the ts and now a penalty and escaping another red card the other day …

Definitely 3rd choice. Should be used to only pass only his experience to the others in the squad. I bet he can't believe we gave him one last pay day in the top League.

He’s costing us points…similar to what Michael Keane was doing with errors at big moments in games. He can’t start anymore.

In our position , with no money, I didn’t mind the short term signing as I thought he’d be bench cover for a few positions. Seeing him as a starter is painful and we need better.

Signing a 38 year old never ever makes sense even as cover. There were plenty of free agent right backs under the age of 38 we could’ve signed that wouldn’t have done any worse. Who the hell signs a 38 year old outfield player honestly? It’s absolutely preposterous.
