The passing in the run up to that DCL missed 1 on 1 was very un Everton
The Dyche-out cries concern me. Help is coming when everyone is healthy. This is clearly a defense problem. Everton are scoring goals, that isn’t the problem now. The problem is we can’t stop other teams from scoring more.
Dyche is even using subs now. Progress is being made. If Everton continue to dismiss managers, there won’t be anybody left. Yes, present state sucks, no argument. But help is coming. Everton will finish mid-table this year.
Progress is being made? That was shocking today even when we unreservedly go 2-0 he hasn't got the gumption to execute a plan to win it, get everyone behind the ball until they inevitably score 3.....dinosaur

The bit today when we had a throw in a yard from the corner flag. Where Martinez got a booking.

And within like 2 passes it ended back to Pickford.

Painful.

Their first today mate came from us having the ball deep on their half, passed it back about three times till it got to young, knocked it back 40y to Pickford, big hoof upfield possession lost next time we touched it was kicking off after they scored.

Never ever seen a side passing it back from decent attacking positions anywhere near they way we do it. Lot of our problems are self inflicted from obvious instructions 'not to take any risks'

That passage of play was so painful…and it happens too often. Negative, safety first football.

And yet there are brief moments like the buildup to DCL’s horrendous miss - and several passages of play v Bournemouth when we look like a competent side…

Is it players just not being brave on the ball? Is it Dyche not letting them? I get the squad is limited but they have enough quality in there to be a little bit braver at times.

Ok

There’s positives.
We can score goals again. We no longer have a problem putting it in the net. For me, that’s been the biggest factor in our struggles. Now, I think it’s not such an issue.
Ok, we’ve gone to pieces at the other end for some reason, but we know Dyche can sort that out.
Terrible, terrible result today, but I see rays of real hope.
(Don’t hate me!)

People need to chill out. Not one single Everton fan I know expected something today, most people thought we would get hammered 4-5 nil. What we got was a decent game against a champions league team. They were clearly the better side, but it was only separated by fine margins at the end.

So we've needed to score at least 3 in every game to get a draw so far in the Premiership. Unless you're Kevin Keegan's Newcastle (for a bit) no team is going to manage that. And with what we managed last season, Dyche and this group of players, there is no chance. Today I don't think we can really complain about the result though - they were better than us.

Why did we put Garner on as right back? He was out of position for the first goal (or was that on Harrison?) and I don't know what was happening with the second. I think he's a serviceable midfielder, but why not play Dixon? Just a mess.

Three decades of decline have finally caught up with us. While other clubs with a similar history are still fighting for success, Everton is battling relegation. The root of this crisis is clear—it all stems from the top. The club has been mismanaged and ruined by the likes of Kenwright and his entourage. Their poor decisions over the years have left us clinging to the hope of merely staying in the Premier League.

It’s a managed decline—clubs can become toxic, and we have been for years. It’s heartbreaking that me as a dad having to explain to my kids why they chose Everton as their team when all they see is disappointment and struggle. The sad reality is that this once-great club now has a generation questioning why they support it. We deserve better.
