Would happily have thrown this competition against Doncaster. That said I will admit to being happy with another positive result. Sets us up nicely for the two massive league games before the break.

Not a bad draw either, at home against a very beatable team.

Did not get chance to watch the game live, but from the highlights I've seen, it looks like we definitely had the best of the chances and should have put the game away earlier.

How did Harrison do for a first appearance?
He was very impressive. Excellent energy and tactical aggressive pressing. Very tidy on the ball and on dribble with a slide through ball creating a clear chance. I think he’ll big player for us.

Points to take away:

DCL is slowly back to his scoring form

Garner has improved greatly in his vision and pressing

Onana is bossing the midfield, and he's starting to master the turn when receiving pass

Our bench is loaded barring any injuries

We can hold our own AWAY from home, and win

UTFT
Need to start winning (even scoring) at home now. !

Why is VAR not being used in the Carabao Cup tonight?

The EFL are keen to ensure every team involved is on an equal footing. With Football League teams involved and some playing home ties, it is deemed unfair to use the technology, which is only regularly used in the Premier League at this stage.

Not all EFL stadiums accomodate the technology, hence why it is not being used.

When will VAR be used in the Carabao Cup this season?

VAR will be in use for the two-legged semi-finals, as well as the final at Wembley.

If an EFL side who do not have VAR set-up in their stadium make it to the final four, it will be installed there on a temporary basis.
ah ok nice1
Moot point so about Beto offside call because the linesman may well have been right tbh

Should either Everton and Liverpool be involved in a contentious decision this evening, this will not be checked by VAR as the video technology is not utilised in the Carabao Cup until the semi-final stage.

This rule has been in place since the 2019/20 season and means teams could see poor decisions go against them in the rounds leading up to the final four of the tournament.

EDIT: *Just noticed, already posted*
Good to know thanks

But this begs the question - why is it used in the FA Cup?

Very impressed tonight, just got back and we put a shift in, Garner was Class, Onana, I've said before and will repeat this lad has something and we should build around these 2. Harrison shock inclusion but performed well given his first run out, very happy Toffees tonight.
