Why? We're not in Europe and a win would be a brilliant morale boost.

Yep, but the squad is thin in a few areas and any injuries in those areas would be a problem, so an added game isn't ideal in that aspect

Also, for all that a win might be a good morale boost, we won yesterday and away at Villa is a tough game and if we lose then you could argue that we could potentially lose a little bit of confidence before we get to the more important game on Saturday

Our team won’t be that weak . Expect Bailey to play along with the in form Duran . There will be a few changes but I’d expect us to put out a decent team . If anything I’d think you lot would be wary of fielding anything close to a full team.

Me thinks there be another ass whoopin' on the cards for us against the mighty Aston Villa. Beto to net another Carabao Cup goal... Wooooo!

We, Villa, will be much changed for this sandwiched as the game is between Chelsea and Brighton in the league, and then Euro Conference the week after. I reckon we'll be something like:

Olsen - Chambers, Konsa, Lenglet, Revan - Dendoncker, Tielemans, McGinn - Bailey, Duran, Kellyman

I think it depends how seriously you will take it.

The cups are our only incredibly slight chance of silverware so I'd still want to give it a good go but you have to be pragmatic too. Some players will be carrying knocks and some just won't be fit enough to play 2 games in a week. So I'm expecting something like:

Pickford
Patterson Keane Godfrey Mykolenko
Garner Onana
Harrison Doucoure Danjuma
Beto

I've always said a team that has never won this domestic trophy, or any trophy since 1995 should never even think about playing a weakened team.

Given our perilous situation in the league based on the last two seasons, our really thread bare squad and the importance of our next 2 home games - this is the first time I think we should.

Wouldn't risk Pickford, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, McNeil, Beto, Calvert-Lewin or Garner.

This is the last thing we need tbh. We’ll lose regardless. The squad is garbage though, so at best we can make 5 changes. No midfield options whatsoever.

Make changes but don’t go extreme with it, start Patterson, Harrison and Danjuma, maybe Gomes or Chermiti but keep the core of the team that won on Saturday
