Atmosphere around the Club

I think the Lukaku statement by Koeman is rather clever.

We all know that Lukaku will go eventually.

So Koeman states as much.

What I read into his statement was: (to Lukaku, indirectly) You can go on to higher things. But to do so, you've got to deliver consistently here, otherwise the big boys will not come in for you, and you'll be stuck here.

Exactly the 'gee-up' he needs to be on top of his game consistently, and not drop down into idleness on the pitch again.

I hope I'm right, and we see Lukaku pulling his guts out every game to lift the club.

I think Koeman is a clever Manager - he appears to have already turned Ross's attitude and performance around.

And there we go, a sensible, reasoned approach, rather than total panic.

He probably didn't need to say what he did. But it really wouldn't have caused any harm if it wasn't for the furore (some of) the fans like to get into at any possibility.

That didn't last long did it? We sold Stones and spent that money on proven Premier League players... meh summer in my eyes.

just to touch more specifically on this point as well. We signed proven premier league players?

again another problem that the fans have overlooked. What are they proven in? Bolasie was proven to play in a crap palace team fighting relegation, Williams was proven to be a relegation candidate captain, at the very least a mid table obscurity player. Gueye was not proven in the slightest and we all hope he ends up recreating Kante from last season, with the weight of the team on his shoulders. Stek was proven to be a back up keeper, and we went and made him first choice! Valencia, greatest of all was proven to be not cut out for this league over 2 years at west ham.

We bought very poorly this window, but the fact they are classed as 'proven'? I would argue Zaha is better than Bolasie, i would argue anyone would have been better than valencia, and i would argue stek is no better than robles. Same old mediocrity rather than improvement, but we believe we should be any higher than mid table nobodies?

I believe we have all been duped to think that these players were better than what they are, which again creates false optimism at the club, which modern times have proven, disapears quite quickly at goodison. but rather than turn on the manager like some people are, turn on the board, ask the question as to why in a summer with record tv money, with a billionaire majority shareholder, that we couldn't muster up £1 of of cash to sign a player, why we had to service the business with a pre meditated sale, and sell it as a lie to the fans that he asked to leave when we now know the deal was premeditated 12 months earlier.

Until we ask these questions of the board, we may as well just accept we are going nowhere as a club no matter how little debt or dockside stadiums are being told to us by sources everywhere except the club itself.

Ha Ha Ha.

The fans are to blame for being angry about their manager saying we're rubbish.

Ok.

Yes mate, like the fans were to blame when we were been hammered at Goodison every week... I wonder who said that?

Look, he shouldn't/didn't need to say it, probably. But he did, and it shouldn't have caused the furore that it did as tbh, he was just acknowledging that Rom wouldn't be fulfilling his world-class potential should he stay at Everton for all his career...

Ash, are you ok mate? There is a new strident air to your postings which hints toward something more than Everton causing you intemperancy

You and the other feller ian cant polish a turd.

he's burnt his bridges with many people with that outrageous slur on the club.

Me? As far as I'm concerned he can even survive that massive blunder given it's his first season as long as he makes no more of them (btw, I seem to remember telling others that he needs to at least shut that stupid twitter account down a few weeks back and got stick for it. I dodnt think that looks too funny now does it?).

But here's the thing: he is on notice from many fans now. The football has been appallingly basic and the results since mid-September have been largely terrible. He's compounded it with these comments and his general 'not arsed about being here' manner is off putting. He needs to shut his grid and massively up his game performance wise on the pitch.

That's where we stand.

There really hasn't been a 'furore' at all though has there? There's just been a very steady stream of the huge majority of Everton fans saying 'why on earth has he said that?'. There's been no major backlash, just a general acceptance that while what he said was correct, it simply did not need to be said.
