Atmosphere at Goodison

the 'electric' type atmosphere , when seen at Goodison, comes about due to the atmosphere built in the run up during the days before a game.

Matched with a referee giving us nothing and handing out presents to the opposition. Bit of a siege mentality.

To be honest the atmosphere at nearly all ground is flat more often than not.

Theme parks and cinemas are for families. Football grounds should be for working class males who want to vent their anger and frustrations to a cause they passionately follow.Everton used to be a big and loud following. Now its too conservative and boring.

everything about this post mate is ridiculous, you cant believe this is true

30 odd thousand people and it's as quiet as a Doctors waiting room. You get moaned at for starting songs off nowadays. Goodison is only good for the derby, United and City.

Yeah I was one of those 30,000-odd on Monday night who got soaked walking up to the ground and sat there freezing watching dull football for first 25 mins. Not complaining cos would never swap going the match for watching on TV but those complaining about the lack of atmosphere from their armchairs might want to consider the miserable weather conditions on the ground before criticising those in the ground for not creating an 'electric' atmosphere?

Roberto can think (his Philosophy ) and say ( his polyanna sound bytes ) what he likes, while football maybe a business, he has to remember it is part of the ENTERTAINMENT business and
Not that it is strictly relevant, but the person who may well be attending his or her one and only game and may have come from the USA or NZ or where ever. He or she pays his or her 34 quid in say, the lower Gwladys. They have come to be entertained, have a night out, make memories that will have to last him or her or even more important their kids all their life.
They have also put in 34 times more than Moyes, Martinez, Kenwright and his puppet masters etc have ever done

They are allowed to boo when a free kick in the attacking third of the field goes back, via 5 or 6 backwards and sideways passes, to the keeper.

The School of Science is closed for renovations it seems.

you have IMO 18 months Roberto to sort it.

Back in the day ( way back in the day ) at some meeting or other, maybe the UN. Khruchchev, then Russian Premier, when they carried some clout. famously stood up and banged his shoe on the table saying ( it is alleged ) how long have I got to listen to this s**t.

He also said and it could also may be applied to managers and chairmen... A Politician; some one who promises to build you a bridge where there isn't even a river.

Down with this sort of thing as Father Ted said.

Not a happy camper here

Some might say it's picky to pull a 3-1 win to bits

But in the entertainment business, it ain't what you do it's the way you do it... just look at Tommy Cooper.

Sort it Bobby... just like that.

end of fume.

I don't get to many games as I live in London but I came up for the QPR game, I personally was happy with the entertainment Everton put on, we won, scored 3 goals, ok wasn't the best performance but so what. What I was disappointed with was the atmosphere, there wasn't one. I was in the paddock and not a single song was sung all match. 350 QPR fans made more noise than the whole ground bar a few in the LG. Therefore its the crowd that are short changing the occasional/ one off match goers not the players IMO

One of the things i hate most about modern football is this notion that supporters who are watching the game on the TV have no right to make any comment on anything related to said game and have clearly never attended a game, particularly if its raining and cold (because that's such an infrequent occurrence on Merseyside), yet those who attended the match are super fans who should be running FIFA and coaching Messi.

Are you more of a supporter and have more of a right to talk about the game because you went and i was sat at home in front of the TV with my sick 3 month old son? Perhaps it's because to travel to games it would be a 6/7 hour round trip for me because i got offered a job thats a considerable distance from Merseyside? I would never swap furthering my career, accepting exciting and challenging opportunities , broadening my horizons and further educating myself (that ultimately benefits me and my family), in exchange for 'going the match'. Perhaps i spend more money and more of my free time travelling to and watch my team than you do? Have you ever considered that?

Or maybe this is simply and lack of understanding of what those watching on tv have said? From my own point of view, i merely said that watching the game on tv, it seemed like the crowd was flat and therefore lacking in atmosphere. I never stated there was no atmosphere.

Or maybe this was just an opportunity for me to rant about one of my biggest bugbears.

I think it's a chicken and egg thing

lets be honest, its just as easy for people who dont go the game saying "the atmosphere was crap" as it is for people who go to say "your an armchair supporter" at the end of the day, i got soacked going into that game, it was freezing and we werent playing well, also i sit in the Paddock, fully knowing the atmosphere wont be shaking the stadium. there are reasons why the game seemed "flat" just as there are why people dont go the game. no one should bad mouth anyone for either of it.

.

Back on topic... I'm not suggesting any fan is more or less of a fan because they go the game or not, because they spend more or less than someone else. At the end of the day no Everton result ever directly changed my life forever. I flew from LA and travelled over 40 hours to/from the Lille away game. Others traveled from nearer and further than that. Like most fans I've also had to watch the other European always on TV wishing I was there. What I'm suggesting is that anyone criticising a lack of atmosphere wherever they are in the world at match time might just stop and think of the conditions for the fans there before whinging about a lack of atmosphere on the TV.
