Atmosphere at Goodison

Me and a few others are thinking of planning something that could potentially improve the atmosphere for City at home. Think something like this needs a larger core than a handful of young lads trying things that will no doubt get laughed at by a big percentage of our fans though (No, it's no drums, no stolen songs or anything daft). Before I say what, has anyone got any ideas?

Also - reading back from page 1 there are plenty of you that want to do something, we need as much people as possible to put their words into action. I only get to a handful of home games but City can be a good starting point I think.

.
What I'm suggesting is that anyone criticising a lack of atmosphere wherever they are in the world at match time might just stop and think of the conditions for the fans there before whinging about a lack of atmosphere on the TV.

I've been a football and rugby supporter here in the Uk for 36 years. I've been in some incredible atmospheres in freezing, wet, snowy and icy conditions. I think people watching on the TV have every right to comment on the atmosphere or lack of atmosphere regardless.

As i have said before, i believe the nearly every ground in every division in this country has flat atmospheres more often than not regardless of the weather. It's the same in summer as it is winter.

The real reason that atmosphere's in English football are not what they used to be is because we have a much more diverse crowd, we have seating only stadiums, there are far too many games, the cost of supporting your club is prohibitively expensive for those who would have been core supporters, it's over commercialised, governed by a corrupt bunch of untouchable clowns (FIFA / FA), the players are so far removed from normal life that people find it hard to relate to them and modern life means that people are moving to other parts of the country and world for work more than every before.

Perhaps a 'singing supporters club' (naff i know), needs to be set up where they can purchase tickets located in a certain section of the ground so they are seated altogether. This means you have the supporters who want to make the most noise able to do just that by being in one place and those who want to be well away from that can avoid it.

Seems a perfectly logical and easy to do plan but it would need to support and input of the club.

Completely agree but our best contact for that idea is now gone (Alan Myers). As I'm not a STH it would be daft for me to create something like that but I'm sure I could help if lads were willing to start. Could be a bit of a problem getting lads together, I actually think if everyone behind the stairs in a couple of sections stood for every game that's half the battle. It just needs a few lads willing to lead the way, worked in cups, works in the derby games/some big games. I'm as willing as anyone to put my words into action because A) [Poor language removed] travelling from Aberdeen to sit in silence and B) Who dislikes a good atmosphere?

And to set the record straight, I don't want to be like Palace or sing for the sake of it, sing when the opposition scores etc. I'm not into all that but FFS, lets get some heart back into the ground. Far too many people think it isn't 'Everton' to want to create a bit of noise, how can so many people be brainwashed into thinking they are some superior Evertonian because they 'watch' and sit in silence. 'Not Everton that', 'Kopite behaviour' etc... Amazing.

No one will get very far with the club by encouraging people to 'illegally' stand during matches.

I also don't really see whats wrong with going to a football match and not singing. I'm not an incredibly vocal person at matches, i wouldn't choose to sit near a 'singing section', but the key to this is trying to satisfy everyone, which is possible.

How about talking to Roberto to get his teams to play with more purpose and passion.....

The atmosphere matches what is on the pitch. We don't need any singing sections, if Goodison needs a big atmosphere then it has always delivered it. Just because people can't be arsed singing when we're drawing with teams like Hull, Swansea, etc doesn't make it a huge problem that needs addressing.

Playing devils advocate - isn't that exactly when the team needs the support?
