If both those players did come in then at least one of Barry, McCarthy or Besic would potentially leave in the summer window.

Ideally it would be McCarthy as arguably he's been the least affective as of late, yet would still demand the highest fee due to a few fators.

Personally, I think under Koeman he could be a better player as he was somewhat lost under Martinez but that's purely ifs and buts.

I think Koeman could get him back to his best. But I also think we could get a really good fee for him still. If we pull off both Carvahlo and Witsel, McCarthy becomes expendable and we make a tidy profit.

Sometimes they'll bluff to try and get extra money, so there is a chance they'll change their tune. If we're not prepared to pay what they're asking there's a good chance no other club will want to either.

If we want both players (witsel and carvalho) it is the clearest indication that koeman sees us as a soft touch in midfield. These two will transform us in the middle of the park giving us real class and physicality. As I mentioned in the match thread, a new goalkeeper and dominant centre half should be next on out list.

The transfer is currently just going through the usual end of contract severance negotiations. He doesn't submit transfer request and he's owed the remuneration of the remainder of his contract. He requests the transfer and he waives entitlement to any remuneration for the rest of his contract.

Transfer request officially submitted.
Zenit will now officially listen to/ accept offers. This bit has already unofficially been agreed with Everton.

Now the clock starts ticking. What happens next? Deal is agreed and announced within 48-96 hours and
Axel strolls into FF and two foots McGeady back to the SPL.
