Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

to be honest, he's doing exactly what I would do in a commercial relationship. Deadline is end of August, my value is only going to increase the closer I get to the deadline.

Really? There was a broadcast on the radio earlier today where they were discussing clubs waiting for the end of the transfer window as the prices drop similar to end of January sales.

Except he's a football player and its not a normal job. A normal player would want settled in and ready to play for his new team in their first game ideally. This lad is content to not kick a ball till after the September international break.

But that's a reflection of the folly of having the window close after the season starts - I don't blame him one iota for looking after himself first. It's purely a commercial relationship, an exchange of services for payment. Occasionally we still get local lads (Barkley as an example) who play for the love of the shirt - the rest it's pure commerce.

Everton is a club players with no affiliation to us at all come and fall and love with. Not sure why we aren't selling that aspect of what Everton means.

Of course we aren't gonna sign people who all love everton and would die for the shirt. But we're a great club to play for and there's few who leave with bad things to say.

As much as I'd love him to have signed already, that's the truth.
Cheers. Be interesting to see if we wait this one out and play the game. I suppose it depends on how much we want him and whether we as a club are prepared to wait until the end of the window. I feel he's waiting for that better deal from another club.

He played for Zenit the other day. He is kicking a ball.

Waiting round like a lonely bloke waving your dosh is still small time and desperate. If we weren't small time, the players would be here already I fear!

Do you think Zenith are a big time club? To paraphrase Mrs Merton, what do you think he saw in mega-rich-multi-million-euro-contract Zenit when he agreed to take himself off into the depths of Russia to play his football?

I would have a certain degree of certainty that the club have already thought of that mate.
I certainly hope so! Think it's clear we need bodies in the squad ASAP, and hopefully the next few weeks will be great to be an Evertonian
