Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

I don't think the club itself has promised anything mate? If so please point me in the direction where the club has promised us all this?, by the way I chose to believe we are trying to sign players that we previously would never have dreamt of signing, but people carry on slagging us off for tying to be ambitious in our signings ;)

Nah ive never slagged off the club for being ambitious. I've always slated them for being unambitious. But ambition for it to matter needs to have an end product. We could well be bidding for these players.what I'm saying is we are doing it in a small time manner and look completely incompetent. Amateurish really.

No one will take a team being held to ransom by a zenit player seriously. No player will take a club who have Robert Elstone negotiating for them seriously. No player will take a club whose chairman is Bill Kenwright seriously.

We may have big plans. But I have plans to do lots of stuff that I'm completely incapable of achieving. This is a poor BK summer. Not one key signing. I'm not going to defend the indefensible.

The club have promised big things and delivered zero. I think they should be doing far far better and are showing us up to be hugely small time. This fella is holding us to ransom and he's nowhere near good enough.

they haven't 'promised' anything... there's been indications that we're going for better things but to say they've promised anything is ridiculous mate and not true.

Your second point, why is it showing us to be small time? You've convinced yourself of that, nobody else, because the club have supposedly not met these 'promises' (again that you've thought up?)

And the guy isn't holding us to ransom at all. He's probably been holding out as long as he ca to see if one of the world's biggest clubs - who have expressed their interest him through the media and most likely his Italian reps - come in for him.

You're also acting like the entire window/season has already been a write off despite the fact that there's the better part of a month left to make deals. We all wanted a few in before now but it hasn't happened for a plethora of factions - many of which are out if the clubs control as, when your a side that has finished 11th two seasons running, it's harder to get the players that will truly improve us in - but still that isn't stopping us trying, which is a positive imo.

And I am sure he will deliver them, but he never once promised us all sorts of signings before our first game

Spot on Kev. People have convinced themselves in their own heads that things must happen by a certain time or in a certain way and if things don't occur like that then they'll stress out about it...

I'm just about old enough to remember the win in 87 & very very early memories of 84 (although probably due to oft used VHS tape recorded from TV)
I could understand the waiting till last minute under the kenwrIght era as we were poor. Surely there's benefit of bringing the big players in early, build up the hype preseason and start well? Thought we were rich?

surely there's benefit in buying all of our first choice transfers? Just like we persisted with getting our first choice manager. Our long term future is more important than the first two games of the season. Why would you bring in a worse player just so you have extra body for the first 2 or 3 games of the season?

Club should be doing far better. They've hyped up this summer hugely and delivered nothing. Spurs in 7 days and not one move imminent.

Can't have much respect for someone holding out for a move to Serie A. Its less watchable than the French league. And the standard has dropped rapidly.

That's probably why he wants to move there: less hectic pace, more time on the ball. He wouldn't wanna play against the Hungarians again (which closely match the style of most Prem teams).

Please elaborate mate...

We've got a new manager in, a DoF in, a new coaching system and team in place.

Not once have the club said 'oh yeh we're going to sign loads of players'.

The club have said nothing on this - up until last week when RK said he was confident of a few signings. Those were Gueye and Williams (who would have been signed by Thursday had Swansea not backed out of the deal. We have now met their valuation for that player twice so the ball is in their court).

But they haven't hyped anything? Show me where this hype is? And please don't use the nothing will be the same again thing as that's just a play on the Alan ball quote

so we've gone from all this hype to "the club never promised anything".

Everton that. Same old.

what hype?????

The media and to an extent the fans hyped it up, yes. But from the club itself, there has been nothing!

I'm not saying I'm not frustrated at the lack of (completed) activity, but fgs, people are acting like the club came out and said: 'We'll have Carvalho, Witsel and Mata signed by August 6th'...

Reading Moshiri's OS statement. Read Ryanetsevs comments. Read everything esk has got from his sources.

Stop playing everything down. Some serious revisionism in this thread. But sure clap clap clap everything will be alright. Don't speak of your concerns or you're a kopite.

Same old same old.

There is no inbetween with some Everton fans, either it's all crap and we are doomed or everything is boss and we are going to win the lot, no patience to rebuild what Martinez has left us

What? Moshiri has already put in a lot, new management team, new ground improvements, transfer funds available to the manager, major progress on a new stadium, what else do you want?

Every week for the past 4 has been "a busy week". I don't need to link you lots of stuff. Of course there's been hype. Just read Moshiri's initial statement.

Revisionism in full swing here from the clap clap clappers
