Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

nothing there was 'hype' .

It was a season ticket slogan / advertising campaign. The other was a statement from our new investor back in February.

That's not 'hype' at all.

Disagree. Both things a very much hype, just look at the collective excited reaction from most blues at Mosh's appointment and what it would mean.

The very definition of hype.

I just find it bizarre that we are doing the backstage restructuring during the window instead of focussing on key signings. Surely a stadium etc can be worked on come September?

What, so you think Moshiri is the one doing all of those things?

He has been key in getting the stadium plans pushed forward.

He has installed a team (Walsh/Koeman) in place to deal with the playing side of it.

They and their respective teams have been and are working on several deals. Everton is pretty much a closed book these days and that's why any information re. signings more often than not comes from one of the other parties. Just because we can't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Due to a colleague who has close ties with Swansea, I know a bit about the Williams deal. Enough to know we've now met Swansea's valuation (which they kept changing) twice and that the player is more than happy to join us. If Swansea hadn't been playing buggars we'd have had him signed by Thursday. As it is we could well still have it wrapped up early next week.

But, that's not to say we don't have plenty of other targets, most of which will not have been reported by the media or picked up by any 'itks'

That's the point, Martinez supposedly gave us the best squad for years, and the only problem I saw was how he was using that squad.

so why is everybody lambasting the club for not getting new signings in yet then Lou?

It's a good squad but an imbalanced squad. A re-build is required to an extent but we're more than good enough (under the right management) to get results from our first few games. We definitely need players in, but certain posters are acting like we can't sign anybody after the season starts and it's already a write off...

and we are after players!!!!

we have agreed massive fees for Witsel and Carvalho. Unfortunately due to the fact that our stock has fallen a lot in the last few years it's hard to get CL-standard players to sign on the dotted line straight away, despite us offering huge wages.

I want us to sign top class players fella and I realise it does take longer, but how long do we wait ? When is the cut off point on when we reset our targets ? I feel we are not as prepared as we should be squad wise for the start of the season. We have to ask ourselves are these targets realistic.

There is no inbetween with some Everton fans, either it's all crap and we are doomed or everything is boss and we are going to win the lot, no patience to rebuild what Martinez has left us
The same with all modern day fans, players also are either class or s***e with no in between, no patience either.

We've still got a good first team, if Koeman can coach them right, get of to a decent start, then adding the right players later on will be seen as a massive bonus.

As I've previously said I hope I'm vaulted into oblivion.

I'm just more frustrated than any other window due to hype and promises. And a cracking opening fixture which we don't seem intent on being ready for.

This is the point I was trying to make yesterday, it's not like the time when city came into money, simply because most teams are now rich so there is a lot more teams in play when it comes to signing players
You're right. Not only did city win the 'lottery' when the shiek bought them, they also did it at the right time before FFP regulations kicked and before record TV deals, that has seen a more level playing field.

That's the point, Martinez supposedly gave us the best squad for years, and the only problem I saw was how he was using that squad.

aye...to be fair we were playing some tasty football at times...but the 07-09 side would've beat Martinez-era blues.

Those comments were all hype and were beaten down as such back then, just like the hype that's come on these boards in the wake of Mosh. In this case the club are also to blame for the hype machine with Mosh promising funds for new players then the season ticket marketing guff being: Nothing Will Be The Same.

Blatant hype machine.

the club can't win though.

we could go out and buy 5 players the equivalent of Gueye's level to improve the squad for a combined £25mil, yet fans wouldn't be happy we aren't spending money.

to me, it's simple.

we're holding out for as long as we deem reasonable for our no.1 targets. when the time comes that the deal is off, we will move on. nobody except people within the club and close to the deals will know when that is. so why stress and set imaginary targets and then fume when they aren't met?

That's the thing, I'm not lambasting the club (even though I've had a bit of fun trying to wind people up) I'm chilled about the whole situation.

I just think it's lame some using Martinez as an excuse, he's history, we should just forget about him, and move forward.

we could put out a team on saturday more than capable of beating Spurs mate.

The side definitely needs improvement, but we've got a good core to build from...
