I'd settle for this (y)

The Kitbag deal that means no shop in Ireland has EFC material on sale is ridiculous... especially when the shirts from just about every other EPL team are on display.

Not easy to increase club profile over here when the club is invisible in the sports shops.

....the stories on here about fans not being able to buy merchandise is amazing. Just what is going on in that Department. Folk wanting to hand over monies but no stock available. Club is supposed to be run by businessmen.

well when is the kit going to be unveiled/leaked as listening to martinez at the end of the video he seems to have already have seen it.

watching the last minute or so of the interview, I can't help but be excited. It sounds like our new Umbro kit will be something very bespoke and original. It will be a nice change from the generic cookie-cutter kits we get from Nike.

Kit deals aren't about how many kits you sell. They are about getting the brand known.

Under Armor (who?) pay Spurs £10m a year because they want you to pay £60 for a pair of their trainers that cost them £5 to make.

UnderArmor is getting huge here in the US, encroaching on Nike territory. A deal with them might have helped raise the club's profile, while at the same time you know the company would also benefit from raising it's profile "over there."

I refuse to believe that in an era when every other similar club are bringing in huge amounts in commercial deals we are uniquely unattractive.

They're growing fast in North America. They do the Toronto Maple Leafs and a bunch of big NCAA athletic colleges (Auburn, Notre Dame, Boston College, Northwestern, Texas Tech)

Long time lurker but first time poster, be kind to a fellow Blue!

Think that kit deals have 3 parts to them
1) Moneys bring to club - IIRC tied up with Kitbag for a few years so don’t think any difference in our income between Nike and Umbro

2) Style, quality and range of clothing available to fans – as a petite woman my current only option is a boy’s junior shirt so a bigger range would be welcome and we may get some more money in that way for the club. We are going to be Umbro’s only premier league team and as such they should put a lot of effort into our design rather than the generic Nike stuff. As for styling, surely they cannot do anything as bad as that ghastly Liverpool purple one.

3) Brand image – I’d love to go back to the days when footie was about the actual game but these days it is not and as with any business our image is important. Nike is known worldwide commercially and that has huge benefits. However there are also drawbacks in that it is not very “unique” to use a favourite Martinez phrase.

I think Roberto is trying to market us to new fans and sponsors (especially outside the UK) by focusing on things such as our history, School of Science pretty football, “family” club reputation etc – sort of an anti-Chelsea. A lot of new non-UK fans will go for the latest title winners or those very well-known such as Liverpool or Man Utd. However, there will still be many looking to support someone “different” and Umbro fits into that far better than Nike. Of course in a few years when we start winning the league and the UCL we will attract the glory hunters and their money but we have to start somewhere!

Everton dont have the motive to deal with that, because it's not Everton that stand to gain from fixing it. The club get 3M p.a. for 10m years whether x amount is sold or x+ amount are sold.

I dare say in 2019 when the greatest screw up in Everton commercial history comes to an end the club will do all it can to get merchandise where it's needed.

Remember why the club ditched Umbro for Le Coq Sportif.
Everton have developed a love hate relationship with Umbro over the years. Umbro has been Everton’s official kit manufacturer for 1974-1983, 1986-2000 and 2004-2009. The delayed release of the new Everton home shirt this past summer must have been the last straw for the club and its fans. The shirts were delayed by Umbro until late July because of quality control issues experienced in the Far East where the shirts were made.
