Beer, revisited

A couple of pints in the White Star yesterday evening. A nice session beer, very drinkable. Would have had a few more if there hadn't been a drunken fiftieth birthday party, complete with swaying menopausal women singing out of tune, and dancing drunkenly to Tina Turner.

I`ve had quite a few from Otter, when I`ve been on hols in the South West over the years. Their beers seem to be generally very good and it`s nice to see beers from the South West making their way up here.

Bayou - from Speke’s Big Bog Brewery : American IPA, quite strong at 5%, really dry and a really nice pint.
I've been having a few of their Hinky Punks as of late and it's a nice pint, although it is quite a distinguished hopped taste which I know puts some people off.

Had their Blonde Bach as well but found the taste peculiar and vinegary. I presumed it had turned but was told it was a new barrel and was fine... so who knows?

All their beers seem to be quite hoppy, although the tang dies down after your first pint.

It seems to be a trend in recent years for more hoppier beers to be brewed ; I wonder why that is ? I prefer the less hoppier variety, and am looking forward to the lengthening nights and the winter warmers.
