Beer, revisited

I think I've said it on here before but their Plum Porter is up there with one of my favourite wintry ales. Their Iceberg and Capt. Smith are also good too!

My favourite stout anywhere, is the Oyster Catcher Stout, by Brimstage on the Wirral.

The bottled stuff is virtually as good as the draught, which is testimony to it`s quality.

The best pint I`ve ever had of it, was at the fantastic Wheatsheaf in Raby.

I don't drive so don't go often, lovely sun trap on the benches.

Sausages in beer : get decent sausages and your favourite beer, simmer in a pan for 20 minutes. Come home from the pub, want some sausages ? Just put them in a hot frying pan to brown them, a couple of minutes, done. Very handy when merry. You can freeze them as well.
They take on the flavour of whatever beer you use. You can also use cider,( and wine, but I've never tried that).

I had couple of crackers last night in the Caledonian, by the Cathedral ( what a cracking pub, hadn`t been in for ages, totally dog friendly, there must have been six people in there with dogs, six cask ales on and a cracking juke box )

Navigation Brewery- New Dawn.

Stamps Brewery ( Crosby ) - First Class.

Both pints in perfect condition and less than 3 quid a pint !

Papa Mango (alc 5.1% vol)
Grains: Pale Malt, Flaked Oats, Torrified Wheat
Hops: Magnum, Citra, Azacca
A juicy, hazy mango pale ale, Papa Mango is dry hopped with Citra and Azacca hops and then conditioned on 60kg of Alfonso mango puree. Think juicy mango overload with a soft hoppy finish, or, as Neil describes it "like a grown up Solero".

Awesome pub! Did they have some kind of folky jazz band or anything? I work the other end of town buts it's a good job as I'd never go home if I worked close to the Caledonia.

I had possibly the best pint(s) of Trappers Hat I've ever had today in the Dee View Inn in Heswall. So creamy, and served at the perfect temperature. Cracking sunset as well over Wales.
