This, big time...needs to spend time focusing on this, specifically...even if it means coming in early or staying late and putting extra time in. Could be his calling card, if he focused on it.

I think a good calling card to have first would be good defensive skills. Then maybe get the dribbling down.
That's already part of his regiment, so I'm expecting it if he's any sort of defender...but I'm looking for more.

It's not. He's good at fullback because reading the game isn't as important as being able to hold up 1v1. And he's legitimately good 1v1 but when he moves inside, which he does have to do at some point, positioning and seeing danger will matter more and he's not there yet in those areas.
You're talking about what's going on now, I'm talking about down the road.

Sure but down the road it won't matter if he can dribble unless he steps up defensively. I'm far less certain he's going to pick up what needs picking up I think.
We'll see, it's down to him and the coaching staff but he's young so we can have a long-term plan for him...which I hope involves what sourpuss brought up.

Ya looks like he could have everything to be a top player. Like his attitude, pace, aggression, ball winning ability.
Very good 1 v 1 defender. Rock solid usually in those situations. But very limited on the ball and struggles to get the ball forward.

Had a decent game.
He played ok and is a nailed on centre back for the future, but playing him left back means he ends up passing it back to the keeper, which he did an awful lot today. Not his fault as left back (or right back for that matter) isn't his position long-term. He's a unit, is quick and can carry the ball. I'm glad we have him and I'm convinced he'll be a future captain.
Looked a bit lost first half back at CB, but better when he went to full-back. Hopefully that was just because he hasn't played CB for a while
