I read that we have until the 16th for him but im not sure, I'd argue everton would want a cb in asap rather than waiting till then.

I'd imagine the aim is to get him in by Monday, our hand will be weakened if it's not done by then, and we can't leave ourselves short.

It seems he is our main target now, and BBC say talks continuing, so better than a good chance of signing him I'd say. It will all come down to the structure of the deal now, the up-front fee, sell-on percentage, performance clauses etc. We might include a player in the deal ourselves.

Plenty of scope to be flexible to do a deal that suits both sides here. If Godfrey is keen on the move it will be done, and to hear the clubs are still talking means there is a willingness on both sides to get it done.

I did a bit of stat comparison on Godfrey to see how he measured up to our existing CBs and a couple of other rumoured targets, FWIW.

Apple for formatting. Essentially shows that Godfrey was comparatively poor in terms of tackles and interceptions (hardly surprising when you see how wide open Norwich tended to play), but had more blocks and clearances than anyone else in the list. Also seemingly the 2nd most accurate passer of the lot too.

Statistally he's closer in style to holgate than to Keane. Which makes sense given his similar height and age.
Are you American by any chance ?

If Carlo has managed to turn Keane in to Cryuff who knows what he can do with this lad.

If he comes in my guess is Mina will be shipped out next Summer. A year in the meantime to get this fella, Branthwaite and Gibson up to speed.

So that’s what I said a few week ago..
I’m confused at how Carlo and Marcel see Godfeys elevation into the first team in terms of timing and the squad. How does he see Godfrey‘s development and potential vs Gibson and Branthwaite. To me it seems mgt don’t have the patience to wait for those two to “be ready” and want a more ready made player who is only a couple years older..

Is what it is in the cold world of team management.
My own uniformed musings on the situation going forward
Keane first choice
Holgate second choice
Mina will be here for a couple more seasons
Godfrey competing with Holgate and Mina to partner Keane
With a compressed season and a hectic season plus hopefully a couple of good cup runs all 4 will get plenty of game time
Branthwaite will go on loan for 2 more seasons
If Godfrey works out then either Branthwaite or Gibson (if they work out )will be looking to take Mina's place and Mina will be sold
I do not think Carlo trusts him

This might go on for a couple of weeks, his potential transfer doesn’t apply to the deadline next Mon, we can sign between EFL clubs until Oct 16th.

A domestic-only window, during which Premier League clubs can trade only with those in the EFL or below, will run from 23:01 BST on 5 October to 17:00 BST on 16 October.

I thought this was only 1 way, but it clearly says we can trade with them, so that means both ways.

Interesting.
