If I'm in the minority then I dont care. If people think he is a good defender then I dont know what on earth they have been watching, but they can have whatever opinion they want. I know what I'm seeing and unfortunately its not good.

Totally agree. It was there last season too, just ignored because he made some highlight reel tackles and could run fast. Him and Hgate together is probably the weakest centre back combination in the league. Neither of them have the positional, aerial, decision making ability.

Good job it wasn't Keane that made that error.....he'd never kick a football for us ever again.
The significance and importance of that basic error cannot be overstated.
Ben is one in a long list of Everton defensive recruitment's who , quite simply , are nowhere near good enough to play at this level.
They have neither the technique or mentality and boy that's a bad combination.

He's a great example of why the 'just buy young hungry players from the championship' strategy that so many people champion is not the brilliant solution that people seem to think it is. It's all very well being young and hungry, but if you're not very good at football it's only going to get you so far.

Ironically I thought he had largely coped OK with Burnley until that point. I was worried about his aerial ability etc, but he didn't have a bad game defensively speaking. And then he went and did that. Sounds harsh, but that mistake was the one that I'll look back at and think it was probably the one that ultimately relegated us
